New GWM Ora Cat EV SUV Revealed In Leaked MIIT Filings
Leaking on the Chinese internet this week is the new GWM Ora Cat - the stilted and larger crossover SUV twin to the GWM Ora Good Cat EV hatch.

The new GWM Ora Cat has been exposed online. The images featured come courtesy of the Chinese automaker’s filings with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) that leaked online in China this week.
For context, this is supposedly the high-riding crossover SUV twin of the GWM Ora Good Cat that us Malaysians are familiar with. Said EV hatch was reportedly refreshed in China back in June this year with bigger screens, a power bump, and revised 430 km CLTC range.
Based on the leaked filing mentioned, this new offshoot will be called the GWM Ora Cat in China, though both ‘Ora 5’ and ‘Ora i5’ alternative names were also listed in these filings, likely for use overseas.

The difference in the rear fascia of the new GWM Ora Cat with the GWM Ora Good Cat are much less prominent than the front's.
Like its grounded hatch twin, this Ora Cat twin bears an identical Porsche 911-esque front face featuring a pair of distinct round headlamps. Shared too are the vents on each end of the front bumper, and horizontal LED taillight strip at the rear.
The rear difference lies in minor details like the presence of roof rails – typical trait of this genre. It also has regular door handles instead of ‘flushed’ ones, its charging flap primed in the front right fender, optional LiDAR sensor, and 18-inch rolling stock.
Dimension figures filled in the MIIT documents also indicate a slight growth in size. Sitting 4,471 mm long with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, 1,883 mm wide and 1,641 mm tall, these figures mark increases of 236 mm, 70 mm, 58 mm and 45 mm, respectively.
Overall, changes are minute to say the least. More details are expected soon though as this refreshed model is tipped for launch in China very soon.

In other words, this isn’t the Good Cat that’s merely ‘dressed up’ as a crossover SUV, it’s actually an offshoot built as one with a bigger footprint to match. This also perhaps explains the heavier kerb heft figures ranging between 1,630 kg and 1,665 kg.
Under its skin, the documents filed also indicate that this Ora Cat model harnesses a single 201 hp e-motor supplied by GWM subsidiary Hycet. It's also juiced by a SVOLT-made LFP battery pack with an unspecified capacity.

The sporty new GWM Ora Good Cat GT sighted during this year's Merdeka Day Parade. GWM Malaysia is expected to launch this new offering very soon.
Besides a claimed V-max of 170 km/h, no other details were released. These are expected to be revealed closer to the model’s eventual launch in the Chinese market, which is slated for this year too.
Closer to home, we’ve already sighted the sportier GWM Ora Good Cat GT when it took part in this year’s Merdeka Day Parade as part of MITI’s EVs convoy for which. This sportier variant should launch very soon - within this quarter, in fact.
