Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim inaugurated the launch of the Terminal Bersepadu Gombak earlier today.

Months since its first operation started, the Terminal Bersepadu Gombak (TBG) integrated transport terminal station has now been officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier today.

More than a decade after its construction began, this RM307.4 million complex now becomes the main land transportation hub that connects express bus services to transit services like the Kelana Jaya LRT line and the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) high-speed train too in the future. With its strategic location in Gombak, which is in the northeast end of the Klang Valley, TBG is also serving as the main gateway for the East Coast Peninsula Malaysia region to the national capital.

Since it became operational on March 5 this year, TBG now houses more than 30 express bus carriers, with an average of 3,000 trips per month. The terminal can accommodate up to 700 bus trips per day, which involves around 25,000 passengers to various destinations across the nation.

While the TBG started as an initiative by the Ministry of Transport (MoT), the terminal now operates using the Build-Lease-Maintain-Operate-Transfer (BLMOT) model, with concessionaire TEGAS now handling the daily operations for the first 25 years before being given back to the government.

Some key amenities primed here include a Central Ticketing System (CTS), a live-operated Terminal Operation System (TOS), plus a transit-oriented design that combines transportation, retail, residential, and even government facilities under one roof.

“This terminal serves as more than just a place for people to get on and off the bus; it is also an international-level facility that symbolises the new face of Malaysia’s public transport system. With modern facilities and amenities like a centralised ticketing system, TBG is proof of the government’s determination to provide a more inclusive and people-friendly public transportation system, in line with the Malaysia Madani agenda,” said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

“We hope that the terminal will not only function as a modern transportation hub but also showcase a sustainable development model that can improve the people’s well-being, reduce dependency on personal vehicles, and contribute to reducing the country’s carbon emissions,” the minister added.
