Proton Saga Production In Shah Alam Has Ended
It appears that production of the current (outgoing) Proton Saga 'MC2' at the automaker's 'legacy' Shah Alam plant has ended.

It looks like we’re a step closer to the launch of the new Proton Saga ‘MC3’. Earlier today, Carz.com.my chanced upon sighting social media posts by Proton insiders (this and this) indicating production of the current (outgoing) Proton Saga model in Shah Alam has ended.

From said posts, it appears the last Saga body produced by Proton at its ‘legacy’ Shah Alam plant rolled out on Friday, 26 Sept. The same post also goes on to note this being the end of said facility’s production operations, which lasted some 40 years.
We’ve known for some time now of Proton’s plans to close this facility as the national automaker concentrates all production efforts at its main Tanjong Malim plant in Perak – said facility also recently got a new dedicated EV production line too.

Back to the Saga and, as you can probably figure, production of its ‘MC3’ successor will take place in said Tanjong Malim plant. As a refresher, Proton ‘teased’ said new successor during its new EV production line launch, and there have been several leaks ahead of which too.
The new Saga is set to debut by year’s end riding on a heavily revised iteration of the current model's AMA platform – one that boasts a heightened electrical and electronics (E&E) package to accommodate several Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) features.

Next comes a brand new 1.5-litre powertrain, likely derived from the face-lifted X50 crossover. Judging from a leaked dealer memo, this also may (or may not?) feature the return of a CVT-type automatic box.
Critically, the new Saga is set to feature a fully revamped interior too and boasts all-new digital instrument and infotainment displays – at least for the higher-grade variants. Otherwise, little else is know at this point.
Though production has ended, it appears dealer stocks for the current (outgoing) Saga remain healthy. This could be the right time to score deals and bargains on one too.

Until then, the current (outgoing) Saga is still listed as available on Proton’s website, meaning there’s a healthy number of stocks possessed by dealers. Arguably, this is perhaps the best time to score a deal on one too.
As a refresher, the outgoing Saga currently starts from as low as RM34,800 and RM38,800 in 1.3 Standard MT and 1.3 Standard AT forms respectively.
