Launched: GAC M8 PHEV – 2 Variants, Up To 1,038 KM Range, From RM328,800
The GAC M8 PHEV luxo-MPV on show at MAS 2025 earlier this year. It seems prices for the model were released online last weekend by WTCA.

WTC Automotif Sdn Bhd (WTCA), assemblers and distributors of the GAC Motor brand (GAC Malaysia), expanded its local line-up last weekend. Instead of a press release, the firm elected to reveal prices for its new GAC M8 PHEV luxury MPV offering online.
Besides announcing it on its official Facebook page, WTCA also listed prices for both the Premium and Luxury variants on its official website at RM328,800 and RM388,800 respectively. Said figures stand lower than the estimated figures touted prior.
As for after-sales and warranties, both a 5-year or 150,000 KM base vehicle warranty plus a separate 8-year or 150,000 KM PHEV battery warranty were listed in through an official e-brochure that’s downloadable from the brand’s official website mentioned.
The GAC M8 PHEV was first previewed locally late last year during KLIMS 2024 before it was shown again earlier this year at MAS 2025. This electrified luxo-MPV is poised to rival directly against the GWM Wey G9 that’s will launch very soon too.

In terms of footprint, the GAC M8 PHEV is larger than both the popular Toyota Vellfire and Alphard, sharing a similar bulk as the all-electric Denza D9 and Zeekr 009 instead.

Sitting 5,212 MM long with a 3,070 MM wheelbase, 1,893 MM wide and 1,823 MM tall, the GAC M8 has a larger footprint versus both the popular Toyota Vellfire and Alphard. In fact, it’s much closer in size to both the all-electric Denza D9 and Zeekr 009.
Mechanically, the GAC M8 PHEV harnesses a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill augmented by an e-motor and 25.57 kWh battery pack. Combined, it outputs 373 PS and 630 Nm, and both are managed by a 2-speed DHT automatic to the front wheels (FWD).
In turn, this setup yields 0-100 km/h sprints despatched in 8.8 secs, up to 120 KM of electric-only range, a maximum combined petrol-electric range of up to 1,038 KM, as well as frugal hybrid fuel economy average as low as 1.1 litres/100 KM (NEDC).

Mechanically, the M8 PHEV pairs a 1.5-litre 4-cyl turbo petrol mill with an e-motor plus a 25.57 kWh battery pack and 2-speed DHT automatic box.

Moreover, the GAC M8 PHEV has the ability to draw in up to 40 kW DC charging inputs enabling 10-80% battery re-charges in just 30 minutes. Otherwise, said pack accepts 6.6 kW AC charging inputs that sees full re-charges (0-100%) done in 3.5 hours.
On top of which, there’s even a vehicle-to-load (V2L) ability built it, which dispenses up to 3.3 kW – enough power most household appliances and electronics.
GAC's Adaptive Vehicle Dynamic Control (AVDC) is present across both variants, but only the Luxury range-topper gets Smart Damping Control (electromagnetic dampers) added.

As for its chassis, the GAC M8 PHEV rides on a combination of front MacPherson struts and rear multi-link suspension assemblies. Promising a rather refined ride is GAC’s Adaptive Vehicle Dynamic Control (AVDC) suite - also primed in the recently launched Emkoo C-SUV - primed in both variants.
However, the range-topping Luxury variant ups the ante by gaining an additional Smart Damping Control (electromagnetic dampers) suite.

Shared hallmarks include striking all-LED forward and rear lighting plus 18-inch rolling stock.

Shared across both are 18-inch rolling stock, all-LED forward and rear lighting, acoustic privacy glass for second- and third-row seats, dual-sunroof (illuminated in the Luxury), as well as a powered tailgate.
On board, there are three rows of seats for up to seven, and it also features a pair or power-adjustable ‘Captain seats’ in the second-row with built-in ottomans, massage, memory and ventilation functions, as well as five-inch digital displays.

Shared for the second- and third-row passengers is a massive ceiling-mounted 15.6-inch infotainment monitor. First row seats also boasts power-adjustment plus built-in ventilation functions.
Other key equipment brimmed include a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, 12.1-inch central touchscreen offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, an 8-speaker Yamaha audio suite, tri-zone automatic climate control suite, a 50-watt wireless charging pad, and an exclusive multi-colour cabin ambient lighting suite in the Luxury guise.

Shared across both variants too are a full suite of advanced driving assistance (ADAS) features that provide high levels of semi-autonomous driving. These come on top of basics that includes 7 airbags, ABS, hill-hold and – descent control, 360-degree parking camera, and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Lastly, it appears just two exterior colourway choices are available – Crystal White and Elegant Black – on top of a striking black-red cabin colour motif.
