Geely EX2 Facelift Prototype Caught Testing in China

Barely a year after its market debut, the Geely EX2 is already receiving an early refresh - minor model change (MMC) - in China.
Known domestically as the Geely Xingyuan, the electric hatchback has been a runaway success, topping national sales charts from Jan to Oct 2025 with 387,590 units sold.

Spy shots published by Autohome via CarNewsChina show a car that looks largely familiar from the outside, with the only noticeable change being new aero-style rims.
The rest of the design - including its 4,135 mm length, 1,805 mm width, oval lighting signatures, blacked-out pillars and flush door handles remains unchanged.

Inside is where the more meaningful updates appear. The gear selector has moved from the centre tunnel to a steering-column layout, freeing up space and aligning the cabin with Geely’s newer models such as the E5.
The steering wheel now swaps the “Geome” script for the Geely Galaxy logo and adopts a revised shape, while various physical buttons, including window controls and central switches, have been refined. The 14.6-inch infotainment screen and 8.8-inch instrument cluster carry over.

Powertrain details for the refreshed model remain unconfirmed. The current range includes a 58 kW motor with a 30.12 kWh LFP battery for 310 km CLTC, and an 85 kW option paired with a 40.16 kWh pack for up to 410 KM. Pricing starts at RMB 68,800 (RM40,000).
For Malaysia, the update raises an obvious question. The newly launched e.MAS 5, essentially the right-hand-drive sibling of the EX2, was launched less than a month ago in CBU form, with CKD production planned for Q1 2026. With Geely already developing the next revision, will CKD units eventually mirror these updates?

Despite the possibility, it remains highly unlikely. CKD programmes require months of advance planning, and Proton will prioritise a stable start to local assembly using the original launch configuration - not China’s rapid update cycle.
That said, future alignment isn’t off the table. If Geely positions this refresh as a global lifecycle update rather than a China-specific tweak, Proton could incorporate the changes later as a minor model change once CKD operations stabilise.
