Launched: 2026 Proton Saga – 3 Variants, From RM37,990*
National automaker Proton officially launched and announced prices for the all-new fourth-generation Saga model earlier today.

With over 10,000 bookings secured in the first five days, to call the 2026 Proton Saga one of the most highly anticipated new model launches in Malaysia this year would be a understatement to say the least.
The wait for many finally ended as the national automaker finally launched the new Saga model earlier today in a glitzy affair held at MITEC, KL. Also called the Proton Saga MC3, the fourth-generation iteration of the national automaker’s best-selling nameplate also saw its official prices revealed.

Proton even announced a special RM1,000 rebate for customers booking the new Saga before Dec 31. Included in the prices too is a 5-year or 150,000 KM warranty with up to three times free labour service.

The range consist of three variants starting with the base-spec Saga 1.5 Standard priced from RM38,990, followed by a mid-specced Saga 1.5 Executive guise slotted above tagged at RM44,990. Capping things off is the range-topping Saga 1.5 Premium that commands RM49,990.
In conjunction with today's launch, Proton will offer a RM1,000 rebate for customers booking the new Saga before Dec 31. In turn, this brings prices down to RM37,990 (Standard), RM43,990 (Executive) and RM48,990 (Premium). Critically, all prices include a 5-year or 150,000 KM warranty coverage plus up to three times free labour service, adding peace-of-mind on top of affordability.
As a refresher, the fourth-gen Proton Saga continues to underpin its predecessor’s AMA platform base, albeit with heavy revisions all around including increased strength and rigidity plus a revamped electronic and electrical (E&E) architecture.

Under the hood, the new fourth-gen Saga employs a brand new 1.5-litre i-GT 4-cyl petrol mill derived from the face-lifted X50. it is paired with either a 4-speed AT (Standard & Executive) or a new CVT box (Premium).
Mechanically, all variants share a new 1.5-litre i-GT 4-cyl petrol mill derived from the face-lifted X50 crossover – albeit simplified sans turbo and direct injection. Besides outputting 120 PS and 150 Nm, said mill also sips between 4.9 and 5.1 litres/100 KM on average.
In both the Standard and Executive guises, drive goes to the front wheels (FWD) through a retained and recalibrated Aisin-supplied 4-speed automatic box. The range-topping Premium guise instead gains a brand-new Punch-supplied CVT automatic box.
Say what you will about the latter, we’ve already sampled it first-hand and found it to be a much more refined and certainly more superior unit over previous Punch-supplied units brimmed in the Saga MC3’s predecessor. (Watch our First Drive & Preview here).

Basic ADAS functions are brimmed exclusively in the Premium variant only. The only bits missing here are Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane-Keeping Assist or Lane-Departure Prevention (LKAS or LDP).

Naturally, it’s the range-topping Premium variant that gets all the bell and whistles, namely the trick basic ADAS functions. Highlights include Forward collision warning and prevention (FCW & AEB) plus Front Departure Alert (FDA), Lane-Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Collision Waring (RCW), Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane-Change Assist (LCA), and Door Opening Warning (DOW), all included.
The only bits missing here are of course Lane-keeping Assist or Lane-Departure Prevention (LKAS or LDP) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), meaning the new range-topping variant detailed just misses out on Level 2 rating here.
Whilst on the Premium guise still, it also brings six airbags lining is cabin to boot. You’ll find just two airbags lining the other two variants, but all come brimmed with key basics that include ABS brakes, as well as traction and stability control suites, amongst others.
Brimmed in the Executive and Premium variants is a new 9-inch infotainment touchscreen brimmed with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The latter makes the Saga the first in segment to offer them.

As for tech, only the Executive and Premium guises bring the coveted wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity suite through a brand new 9-inch infotainment touchscreen. In turn, this puts the Saga as the first in segment to offer which.
Said infotainment unit forms one half of the trick new dual digital display panel primed in the dash next to a 7-inch digital instrument display panel. As for the Standard guise, it gets a much simpler basic head unit instead.
