Proton X50 Makes Overseas Debut in Brunei - From RM86,500

Brunei has become the first overseas market to receive the All-New Proton X50, as Proton International Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (PICSB) continues to expand its export operations.
The launch, held in Bandar Seri Begawan, signals Proton’s ongoing focus on RHD export markets. Brunei is one of the company’s most established international markets, with the X50 consistently among the brand’s best-selling models.

At the event, representatives included His Excellency Datuk Mohd Aini Antan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, Wan Wei, Vice President of PICSB, and local distributor PAD Motors.
In 2025, PICSB exported 6,000 vehicles, with the X50 contributing 29% of the total. In Brunei alone, the model accounted for 38% of Proton’s sales, underscoring its relative strength in the market.

For the Brunei market, the X50 is offered in three variants: the Executive priced at B$27,499 (RM86,500), the Premium at B$31,500 (RM99,100), and the Flagship at B$34,500 (RM109,000). The first 100 buyers are eligible for an early-bird discount of B$1,500 (RM4,700). All models come with a five-year or 150,000 km warranty and six complimentary labour services.
For context, the same X50 variants are priced higher in Malaysia, with the Executive at RM89,800, Premium at RM101,800, and Flagship at RM113,300. This makes the X50 notably cheaper in Brunei compared to its domestic market.

According to Wan Wei, the launch highlights Brunei’s role in Proton’s export strategy. The company aims to grow international sales as part of its broader target of 330,000 vehicles annually by 2030, with exports contributing around 30% of total volume.
The introduction of the X50, marks the first step in a planned series of refreshed and feature-upgraded models for Proton’s export markets.
