Rapid KL Set To Restructure Bus Routes Starting Jan 16
Rapid KL is making some changes to its bus network in the Klang Valley, starting Jan 16, as it looks to focus its resources on routes that are actually being used.
The first phase of the restructuring affects 16 MRT feeder routes and three Rapid KL bus routes, which together make up about 7% of the 281 routes currently operated by Rapid KL.
These routes will either be replaced with new ones or shifted over to the Rapid KL On-Demand van service, which the operator says already covers many of the affected areas.
According to Rapid Bus, the move is mainly driven by low passenger numbers on certain routes.
"The changes are based on a demand-led bus network study that’s been running since mid-2024. The idea is to free up buses so they can run more frequently on busier routes, instead of being spread thin across services with very few passengers," Acting CEO Ku Jamil Zakaria said.
Several MRT feeder routes around Sri Damansara, Kepong and Segambut will see changes. Routes like T111, T112 and T113 will be replaced by new services linking Metro Prima Station to nearby neighbourhoods such as Taman Beringin, Taman Bukit Maluri and Taman Sri Sinar.
Other adjustments include new connections from Sri Delima Station to Sri Segambut, and from Kentonmen Station to MITEC, replacing older feeder services.
In Putrajaya, a number of routes will be consolidated, with services centred around Putrajaya Sentral, Precinct 11 and the PICC. Meanwhile, commuters in Serdang and Bukit Jalil will see feeder routes reworked to provide direct links to Pavilion Bukit Jalil, which has become a major destination in the area.
There are changes in the city too. Routes from Semantan to KL Sentral and Menara DBKL will be replaced by services covering Kuala Lumpur’s central business district, while the DS01 route between Ampang and KLCC will be taken over by Route 300, running from Pandan Indah to Lebuh Ampang.

"This isn’t about cutting access, but about running a leaner, more reliable network. Commuters affected by the changes are expected to have alternatives, either through new bus routes, feeder replacements or the Rapid KL On-Demand service
"More adjustments could come later as travel patterns continue to be reviewed, but for now, passengers are advised to check route updates ahead of Jan 16 and plan their journeys accordingly," Ku Jamil concluded.
