JPJvBID is Live: A Step-by-Step Technical Guide to Malaysia’s New Digital Car Auctions
![]()
Today, March 10, JPJ takes a massive leap toward transparency with the official rollout of the JPJvBID app. Available on Google, Apple, and Huawei stores, this platform replaces the old-school physical auction yard with a 100% digital interface.
For anyone looking to secure a vehicle through these digital auctions, the challenge is clear: how do you verify a car you can't touch? We’ve broken down the technical steps you need to take right now.
The "Launch Day" Setup (Do This Today)
The app is officially live on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and Huawei AppGallery. You can download it now to get your profile ready, but remember—the actual listings won't be "unlockable" until next week.
- Download & Set Up: Search for "JPJvBID" and log in using your existing MyJPJ credentials.
- Note: As of today, there is no MyDigital ID integration for this app yet; stick to your standard MyJPJ username and password.
- Explore the Interface: Take today to familiarise yourself with the app layout.
The Selangor Pilot & Key Dates
JPJ Selangor is leading the nationwide rollout with a pilot batch of 30 vehicles, consisting of motorcycles, passenger cars, and "scrap" units. Mark these two critical dates in your calendar:
- March 18: E-Catalogue Sales Begin
- This is when you can officially browse the 30 pilot vehicles.
- Cost: RM50 per auction series. Once you pay, you gain access to the full technical reports and images.
- April 1 – 5: The Inaugural Bidding Window
- The first-ever online auction for these 30 units will open at 12:01 AM on April 1 and close on April 5.
The Digital Technical Inspection
![]()
Since physical inspections are officially banned and photos only provide an exterior-only view, the Laporan Penarafan Kenderaan (Vehicle Rating Report) is your only window into the car’s condition.
1. The Star Grading System

The report uses a 5-star scale to rate individual components (Power Train, Bodywork, Interior):
- Overall Rating: In the example given through the app's manuals, a 2-Star (Unsatisfactory) rating indicates the vehicle has "obvious defects."
- Component Grades: Pay close attention to the Power Train and Bodywork scores. If these are 2 stars or lower, the document identifies them as being in poor condition.
2. The "As-Is, Where-Is" Reality Check

JPJ has made it clear: Vehicles are sold "As-Is, Where-Is." There are no refunds or returns once the hammer falls.
- Hidden Interior: Photos will not show the dashboard, engine bay, or trunk. If the seats are missing or the dashboard is cracked, you won't see it in the images—only the Rating Report might mention it.
- Scrap Label: Be extremely vigilant. If a vehicle is labeled as "Scrap," it is legally sold for parts/salvage only. It cannot be registered for road use again.
3. Identity Verification
Check the Pengesahan Identiti section in the report:
- Tidak Ganggu: This means the Chassis and Engine numbers match records.
- Ganggu: If this is ticked, walk away. It indicates potential "cloning" or tampered numbers, making legal registration a nightmare.
The "Last-Minute" Bidding Math

The system includes a Kenaikan Minit Terakhir (Last Minute Increment). For example, if a Proton Saga has a RM100 normal increment, it might jump to RM200 in the final 30 minutes. This is designed to prevent "sniping," so ensure your bank balance is ready for that final-hour surge.
The transition to JPJvBID is about more than convenience; it’s about integrity. By removing physical inspections, JPJ is attempting to eliminate "gatekeeping" and "cartels" that traditionally dominated manual auctions. However, the burden of technical due diligence now falls entirely on you—the digital bidder.
