Military Officer Arrested For Fatal MEX Highway Crash; Blood Alcohol Was Over The Limit
![]()
A horrific head-on collision on the MEX Highway has left one dead and several others injured. Police have since arrested a 31-year-old military officer after he was found to be driving over the legal alcohol limit during the 5:30 AM incident.
What happened?
The incident occurred around 5:38 AM when a 31-year-old military officer, driving a Ford Fiesta, reportedly drove into the opposite lane.
He crashed head-on into a Perodua Alza e-hailing vehicle that was transporting two passengers from KLIA.

The victims involved:
- The Deceased: A 22-year-old Bangladeshi man sitting in the back seat. He tragically passed away at the scene due to severe head injuries.
- Injured Passenger: A 20-year-old Bangladeshi woman who is currently receiving treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
- E-hailing Driver: The 41-year-old driver sustained head injuries.
- Fiesta Passenger: A 36-year-old woman in the officer's car was also injured and hospitalized.
"The male passenger, who was sitting in the middle of the backseat, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe head injuries," said Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head, Zamzuri Isa.
The driver was under the influence
While the military officer only suffered minor injuries, the consequences of his actions are severe. Breathalyser tests confirmed that his blood alcohol level exceeded the legal limit. However, his urine test came back negative for drugs.
What happens next?
The suspect has been arrested, and the case is being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death while driving under the influence.
