"Turun Padang" Works! PMX To Personally Push For Higher Fuel Subsidies After Hearing From P-Hailing Riders

Sometimes, speaking up directly to the Prime Minister can lead to actual policy changes in less than 48 hours.
During a recent turun padang session in Johor, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim spent time listening to the raw, everyday struggles of our local food delivery riders. The number one complaint? The current monthly fuel subsidy quota just isn't cutting it for the grueling daily grind.
Instead of putting it through a mountain of bureaucratic red tape, PMX decided to take immediate action. He announced that he will personally bring up a proposal to bump the p-hailing fuel subsidy up to 250 litres at the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting.
The 200-Litre Struggle Is Real
To give you some context, our delivery riders have been feeling the pinch lately. While the Budi Madani (BUDI95) subsidised fuel quota originally sat at a comfortable 300 litres per month, the government had to temporarily dial it back to 200 litres following a sharp increase in global oil prices.

While 200 litres at RM1.99 per litre is perfectly fine for a standard consumer who just commutes to the office, it's a completely different story for full-time gig workers. Riders spend hours idling in city traffic, navigating heavy rain, and covering massive mileage every single day just to get our food to us on time.
PMX acknowledged this gap himself, noting that matching full-time riders with standard consumer caps simply doesn't reflect their operational reality.
"Fahmi, We Need To Find A Way"
Behind the scenes, PM Anwar is already mobilizing his team to make this happen. During his speech, he shared a candid insight into how he plans to execute the 50-litre boost.
“The (MTEN) meeting on Tuesday, I will bring (this matter) and discuss. Because they (p-hailing) get 200 litres, the same as us, RON 95 is only 200 litres. So I said, we’ll remind saudara Fahmi (communications minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil), we find a way to at least increase it by 50 litres to make it 250 litres,” PMX said.
P-Hailing vs. E-Hailing: The Subsidy Divide

While a 50-litre bump is a massive win for motorcycle riders, it also highlights the stark contrast within the gig economy. Currently, eligible e-hailing (car) drivers enjoy a much higher usage ceiling of 800 litres a month under the targeted subsidy framework.

Moving p-hailing riders up to 250 litres is a solid step toward bridging that economic gap, giving our "Abang Riders" some much-needed financial breathing room while global fuel markets remain volatile.
The proposal is officially on the table for discussion. If approved, thousands of delivery workers across the country can look forward to a lighter financial burden the next time they pull up to the pump.
