500k Cars In Just 8 Months?! Leapmotor Has Conquered 40 Countries And Now They're Assembling In M'sia

Global EV powerhouse Leapmotor has officially dropped a massive statistical bombshell: they have officially crossed 1.5 million cumulative vehicle deliveries worldwide.

But it’s not just the big number that has the automotive industry sweating, it’s the terrifying speed at which they pulled it off.

The 8-Month Rocket Ship Velocity

To truly understand how crazy this growth curve is, you have to look at the timeline math.

When Leapmotor first started delivering cars in China back in June 2019, it took them a long, grueling 64 months to sell their first 500,000 vehicles. They eventually crossed the 1 million delivery threshold in October 2025.

But their third batch of 500,000 cars? It didn't take years. It didn't even take a full twelve months. Leapmotor managed to liquidate half a million EVs globally in just 8 months flat!

This vertical explosion firmly establishes Leapmotor as a frontrunner among the world's fastest-growing new energy vehicle (NEV) startups. In May 2026 alone, the brand shattered expectations by delivering a record-breaking 81,569 vehicles in a single month.

A Silent 40-Country Global Takeover

How do you casually drop 500,000 cars onto public roads in less than a year? You conquer the map.

By leveraging a massive, multi-billion dollar international joint venture with automotive giant Stellantis, Leapmotor has quietly weaponized a massive distribution network.

To date, their business grid has aggressively expanded into more than 40 countries and regions worldwide, backed by a sprawling web of over 2,000 global sales and service outlets. They are even actively dominating legacy territories; European buyers are loving them so much that Leapmotor has somehow captured a staggering 30% market share of Italy's entire all-electric vehicle segment.

The RM25 Million Power Move Right In Kedah

Now, here is why this massive global news matters directly to you: this isn't just an overseas story anymore.

As part of their aggressive global expansion blueprint, Leapmotor has officially established its secondary localized manufacturing ecosystem right here on Malaysian soil. Stellantis Malaysia has officially kicked off completely knocked-down (CKD) local assembly operations at its state-of-the-art facility in Gurun, Kedah!

To turn our local Northern hub into a high-voltage EV powerhouse, Stellantis poured over RM25 million into upgrading the Gurun plant's infrastructure and production lines. The facility boasts an annual manufacturing capacity of 60,000 units, and local assembly lines are already actively rolling out the tech-packed, family-oriented Leapmotor C10 SUV.

Even better? Local factory operators and technicians have been rigorously trained and certified to safely handle advanced, high-precision engineering architectures up to 800V. This places Malaysia at the absolute forefront of EV industrialization within the entire ASEAN region.

With massive global backing, reliable component manufacturing handled over 65% in-house to keep costs low, and a heavy multimillion-ringgit manufacturing anchor dropped in Kedah, Leapmotor is clearly not here to play minor league games.
