1. The Basics: What is the Quota?

Under the BUDI Diesel programme, eligible Malaysians get a base monthly quota of 200 litres of subsidised diesel at RM2.10 per litre.

• Flexible Usage: The best part? This quota is flexible. If you don't use all 200 litres for diesel, you can use the remaining balance for subsidised RON95 petrol.
• Is 200L enough? According to government data, 90% of Malaysian drivers consume less than 200 litres of fuel per month. So, for the vast majority, this allocation is perfectly sufficient.

2. Can I get more than 200 litres?

Yes. If you own a qualifying pickup truck or jeep (4x4), you can apply for an additional 100 litres, bringing your total monthly entitlement to 300 litres.

• Who is this for? This is designed for those with higher fuel needs, such as micro-entrepreneurs (MSMEs) or those who commute long distances from rural areas.
• How to apply: You can apply for this top-up via the official BUDI Madani portal.

3. "Help! My car is registered to my spouse/parent!"

This has been the #1 concern raised by the public, and the government is officially listening. Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan confirmed that the MOF is currently evaluating an "Approved Person" mechanism.

• What it means: This will eventually allow the actual driver of a vehicle to access the subsidy, even if the car is registered under a family member's name.
• The Status: It’s a work-in-progress based on recent feedback. The government wants to ensure the "one car, one quota" rule remains intact to prevent leakage, but they are working to make it fair for families.

4. Is there a deadline to apply?

Nope. The government has explicitly stated there is no deadline for BUDI Diesel applications. This is to ensure that even if your life circumstances change (e.g., you buy a pickup truck six months from now), you won't be locked out of the programme.

5. How do I actually pay for subsidised diesel at the station?

It’s simple and uses the system you’re likely already familiar with:

• MyKad Verification: Your MyKad acts as the "key" to your subsidy. Just present it at the pump or cashier to trigger the subsidised rate.
• Payment: You can pay as usual using cash, credit/debit cards, or e-wallets (Touch ‘n Go, Setel, etc.), provided your MyKad has been verified.

6. What about Sabah, Sarawak, and rural areas?

The government is working closely with state governments to ensure rural communities, riverboat operators, and owners of diesel generators are covered. If you live in a remote area and use diesel for power, you’ll be registered through local resident offices or relevant state boards to ensure you don’t get left behind.
