11 Deaths In 4 Days: JPJ Introduces Mandatory Online Registration & 4-Photo Check For RXZ Members
![]()
A tragic aftermath following the RXZ Members 8.0 gathering, which recorded 11 fatal road crashes in just four days, has prompted a major regulatory overhaul for future mega motorcycle events in Malaysia.
In a high-level engagement session chaired by JPJ Senior Enforcement Director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, the Road Transport Department (JPJ) officially directed organizers of the RXZ Members gathering to institute a mandatory online pre-registration platform. Moving forward, participants must meet strict legal criteria, including uploading multiple photos of their bikes, before hitting the road.
What Are The New JPJ Mandates For RXZ Members?
Following the meeting at JPJ Headquarters in Putrajaya, attended by representatives from PDRM, MIROS, LLM, JAS, PERKESO, and local councils, JPJ announced a structured framework to regulate large-scale motor gatherings.
To participate in future RXZ Members gatherings, riders must fulfill the following mandatory criteria via the new online registration portal:
- Valid Driving License: Unlicensed riders will be barred from entry.
- Active Road Tax & Insurance: Vehicles must have a valid Motor Vehicle License (LKM) and active insurance coverage.
- 4-Angle Vehicle Photo Submission: Participants must attach four photos of the registered motorcycle:
- Front view (showing clear registration number)
- Rear view (showing clear registration number)
- Left side view
- Right side view
- Highway Travel Advisories (TTA): Organizers must coordinate movement plans with highway concessionaires and the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) to prevent uncontrolled convoy swarms.
The Grim Statistics Behind The Crackdown
The enforcement directive follows alarming data released by Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Director Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali.
During the four-day RXZ Members 8.0 event held from 30 July to 2 August, police recorded 46 motorcycle-related crashes, resulting in 11 deaths (23.91%), 5 severe injuries, and 30 minor injuries.
RXZ Members 8.0 Crash Breakdown
| Crash Category | Total Cases | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| Fatalities | 11 | 23.91% |
| Severe Injuries | 5 | 10.87% |
| Minor Injuries | 30 | 65.22% |
| Total Crashes | 46 | 100% |
Age Demographics & Crash Types
JSPT analysis revealed that young riders aged 18 to 30 made up 29 out of the 46 crash victims:
- Ages 21–30: 19 victims (Highest category)
- Ages 18–20: 10 victims
- Ages 41–50: 9 victims
- Ages 31–40: 8 victims
Rear-end collisions accounted for the highest number of crashes (21 cases), followed by self-accidents/skidding (15 cases), side impacts (7 cases), and sideswipes (3 cases). Primary contributing factors included tailgating, speeding, loss of vehicle control, and unsafe group riding behavior.
