Reviews

Summary

The Leapmotor B10 is a five-seat C-segment electric SUV positioned below the larger C10. Both Malaysian variants use the same 160-KW or 218-PS rear-mounted electric motor producing 240 NM, with the main differences being battery size and equipment.

The Life uses a 56.2-kWh LFP battery providing 361 KM WLTP, while the Design receives a larger 67.1-kWh unit with 434 KM WLTP. Both support 11-KW AC charging, while DC charging reaches 140 KW and 168 KW respectively.

Interior

Dashboard

The minimalist dashboard is centred around a large 14.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen running Leap OS 4.0 Plus, accompanied by an 8.8-inch digital driver's display. Physical air vents remain beneath the screen, providing conventional manual adjustment.

Centre Console

A floating multi-purpose centre island incorporates the armrest, smartphone storage and a 15-W wireless charging pad. Beneath it are two foldable cup holders and a large open storage area.

Instrument Cluster

The 8.8-inch digital driver display shows speed, battery status, remaining range and driver-assistance information.

It operates alongside the larger central display rather than using a head-up display, which is not included in the Malaysian B10 specification.

Seats

The Life receives Dark Grey fabric upholstery, with a six-way manually adjustable driver's seat and four-way manually adjustable front passenger seat.

The Design upgrades to OEKO-Tex Standard 100 ECO Leather, offering six-way electric adjustment for the driver and four-way electric adjustment for the passenger. Both front seats also gain heating and ventilation.

Space

The 2,735-MM wheelbase provides generous space for five occupants. Leapmotor quotes 2,390 MM of usable interior passenger length, with front and rear headroom of 1,027 MM and 1,005 MM respectively.

Both front seats can also recline substantially when their headrests are removed, creating a near-flat resting arrangement inside the cabin.

Steering Functions

A two-spoke multifunction steering wheel provides controls for media, driver assistance and vehicle settings. The Design uses a more premium leatherette finish and also incorporates heating.

Following the 2026 OTA update, steering-wheel buttons can also be customised with shortcuts for functions including ADAS settings and drive modes.

Storage Space

The B10 incorporates 22 separate cabin storage areas, including door pockets, dashboard compartments and extensive storage around the floating centre console.

A separate 25-litre front boot provides useful space for smaller items or charging equipment.

Cup Holders

Two foldable cup holders are integrated below the centre-console island, allowing the area to be opened up for additional storage when they are not required.

Charging Ports

Four USB ports are provided: a 12-W USB-A and 60-W USB-C at the front, plus a 12-W USB-A and 15-W USB-C for rear passengers.

A 15-W wireless smartphone charger is also positioned within the front centre console.

Build Quality

The Life uses fabric seating and relatively simple cabin materials, but retains the panoramic roof and large infotainment system of the higher variant.

The Design offers a noticeably more premium environment through ECO Leather upholstery, 64-colour ambient lighting, privacy glass, heated and ventilated front seats and additional comfort equipment.

Boot Space

The rear luggage compartment provides 430 litres with the seats upright. Folding the rear seats expands capacity to a substantial 1,700 litres.

Combined with the additional 25-litre front compartment, the B10 provides useful everyday cargo versatility for a C-segment electric SUV.

Exterior

Body Dimensions

The B10 measures 4,515 MM long, 1,885 MM wide and 1,655 MM tall, supported by a 2,735-MM wheelbase. Ground clearance is 170 MM.

Kerb weight is 1,780 KG for the Life and 1,845 KG for the Design, with a near-even 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution.

Front View

The front adopts a clean EV-oriented design with a largely enclosed centre section, rounded edges and sculpted lower-bumper elements. Flush door handles and carefully managed airflow help the B10 achieve a drag coefficient of approximately 0.265 Cd.

Rear View

The rear uses a simple horizontal design dominated by the Wing Star full-width LED tail-light bar. A relatively upright tailgate helps preserve luggage capacity despite the B10's contemporary crossover profile.

The Design additionally receives a powered tailgate, while the Life uses a manually operated unit.

Headlamps

Full-LED automatic headlamps are standard, accompanied by distinctive chequered-flag-inspired LED daytime-running lights. Automatic high- and low-beam functionality is also included.

Tail Lamps

Both variants receive LED rear lighting with a continuous light bar spanning the tailgate. The Design adds additional position-light functionality within the full-width arrangement.

Side Mirror

Electrically adjustable exterior mirrors are provided, while the Design adds automatic power folding when the vehicle is locked.

Brakes

Ventilated disc brakes are listed for the B10, supported by regenerative braking, ABS and electronic stability systems. The braking system also works with the vehicle's Level 2 driver-assistance functions.

Wheels

Both variants ride on 18-inch Star Sports aluminium alloy wheels. An unusual staggered tyre arrangement is used, measuring 225/50 R18 at the front and 235/50 R18 at the rear.

Features

Active Safety

The B10 includes autonomous emergency braking, forward-collision warning, Rear Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Emergency Lane Keeping Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Braking.

Blind Spot Detection, Door Opening Warning and Intelligent Speed Assist further expand the standard active-safety package.

Passive Safety

Seven airbags are standard, covering the front occupants, front sides, curtain areas and the centre between the front passengers.

The B10 achieved the maximum five-star Euro NCAP rating, including scores of 93% for both adult-occupant and child-occupant protection.

Drive Modes

Three primary drive modes are provided: Comfort, Standard and Sport. These alter accelerator and steering responses according to the driver's preference.

A One Pedal Drive function was subsequently introduced through the 2026 OTA software update, providing stronger regenerative deceleration when the accelerator is released.

Infotainment

The 14.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen runs Leap OS 4.0 Plus using a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155 processor with up to 16 GB of memory. Connected navigation, 4G connectivity, in-car Wi-Fi, remote vehicle functions and OTA software updates are supported.

Following its first major Malaysian OTA update in early 2026, the B10 now supports wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, improved voice commands and faster infotainment start-up.

Driver Assistance

A comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite with 17 functions is standard on both variants. Key systems include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist and Hands-Off Detection.

A 360-degree surround-view camera with dynamic guidelines and rear parking sensors are also included. However, dedicated front parking sensors are not listed in the Malaysian specification.

Sound System

The Life is equipped with a six-speaker audio system.

The Design doubles this to 12 speakers, making it the significantly better-equipped version for buyers who prioritise cabin entertainment.

Performance

Engine

Both versions use the same rear-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor producing 160 KW or 218 PS and 240 NM.

The compact seven-in-one oil-cooled motor weighs approximately 60 KG and achieves up to 94% peak efficiency.

Transmission

Power is delivered through a single-speed electric reduction gear, providing immediate response without conventional gear changes.

Drivetrain

Both Malaysian variants are rear-wheel drive. The LEAP3.5 platform and Cell-to-Chassis 2.0+ construction provide an approximately 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution.

Acceleration

Both Life and Design accelerate from 0 to 100 KM/H in 8.0 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 170 KM/H.

The B10 prioritises smooth everyday performance and efficiency rather than outright acceleration.

Fuel Consumption

The Life uses a 56.2-kWh LFP battery, providing 361 KM WLTP or 442 KM NEDC. Maximum DC charging is 140 KW.

The Design receives a larger 67.1-kWh LFP battery, increasing range to 434 KM WLTP or 516 KM NEDC and maximum DC charging power to 168 KW.

Both use an 11-KW AC onboard charger. A 30% to 80% DC recharge takes under 20 minutes, while AC charging takes approximately 4.2 hours for the Life and 5.6 hours for the Design when charging across a broader usable range.

A 3.3-KW Vehicle-to-Load function is standard on both variants.

Comfort

Convenience

A large 1.8-square-metre panoramic glass roof with an electrically operated sunshade is standard across the range. Bluetooth key, NFC card access, mobile-app virtual key and remote vehicle operation are also included.

The Design adds powered and ventilated front seats, automatic folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, rear privacy glass, ambient lighting and an electric tailgate.

Rear Air Vents

Automatic air conditioning is standard on both variants, complete with dedicated rear air vents and a PM2.5 cabin filter.

Ride Comfort

The B10 uses MacPherson-strut front suspension and an independent multi-link rear setup, with chassis tuning developed with input from Stellantis' engineering teams.

The near-50:50 weight distribution, relatively modest 18-inch wheels and 170-MM ground clearance make the setup suitable for everyday Malaysian roads rather than chasing particularly aggressive handling.

Sound Insulation

The electric drivetrain operates with very little mechanical noise, with Leapmotor quoting motor operating noise below approximately 76 dB(A).

Its oil-cooled motor, rigid Cell-to-Chassis construction and comfort-oriented suspension contribute to a generally refined everyday driving experience.

Wrap Up

Conclusion

The Leapmotor B10 offers a particularly strong amount of equipment and technology for its RM107,800 to RM118,800 price range. Both variants receive rear-wheel drive, independent rear suspension, a 14.6-inch infotainment system, panoramic roof, seven airbags, a 360-degree camera and the full 17-function Level 2 ADAS package.

The Design is the more convincing choice. Its additional RM11,000 brings the larger 67.1-kWh battery and 434-KM WLTP range, faster 168-KW DC charging, powered heated and ventilated front seats, ECO Leather, 12-speaker audio, ambient lighting, privacy glass and an electric tailgate.

Weaknesses include the relatively modest 240-NM torque output, only 361 KM of WLTP range in the Life and the absence of front parking sensors despite the comprehensive camera system. Nevertheless, the B10's combination of space, fast charging, strong safety equipment and competitive pricing makes it a compelling value-focused electric SUV.
