GWM Ora Good Cat GT

The GWM ORA Good Cat GT is a five-seat electric hatchback offered in Malaysia as a single Performance variant. Priced at RM119,800, or RM120,620 on-the-road without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia, it sits RM10,000 above the regular Good Cat Ultra.

It uses a 126-KW front-mounted motor producing 171 PS and 250 NM, paired with a 57.7-kWh LFP battery providing up to 380 KM of WLTP range. Warranty coverage includes five years or 150,000 KM for the vehicle and eight years or 180,000 KM for the battery, electric motor and motor-control unit.

The dashboard combines a seven-inch digital instrument display with a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, forming a 17.25-inch integrated display panel. Yellow trim and black surfaces distinguish the GT cabin from the regular Good Cat. 

The redesigned centre console uses a column-mounted electric gear selector, creating additional storage space between the front occupants. A 50-W wireless smartphone charging tray is positioned within easy reach.

The seven-inch digital instrument display presents speed, remaining range, energy usage, charging information and driver-assistance status. It is integrated beside the infotainment display within a single widescreen panel. 

GT-specific sports bucket seats feature integrated headrests, black suede and leather upholstery and contrasting yellow trim. Powered adjustment, ventilation and massage functions are provided for the front seats. 

The 2,650-MM wheelbase provides reasonable passenger space for five occupants. The mostly flat rear floor improves comfort for the centre passenger, although the cabin remains more suitable for small families than five full-sized adults.

The multifunction steering wheel provides controls for media, calls, voice commands, cruise assistance and the digital instrument display. Tilt and telescopic adjustment are included. 

Storage areas include door pockets, a glovebox, centre-console compartments and an open tray created by the redesigned console. The rear seatbacks fold in a 60:40 arrangement when additional luggage space is required. 

Two cup holders are positioned at the front, while another two are integrated into the folding rear centre armrest. Bottle holders are also provided within the doors. 

The cabin provides four USB connections, a front power socket and a 50-W wireless smartphone charger. The vehicle also supports up to 3.3-KW Vehicle-to-Load operation for compatible external equipment. 

Suede upholstery, yellow contrast stitching and sporty trim give the GT cabin a more distinctive presentation than the regular model. Some harder plastics remain, but the colour treatment and integrated displays create a stylish environment. 

The rear luggage compartment provides approximately 250 litres of capacity. The powered tailgate improves access, while folding the rear seatbacks allows larger items to be carried.

The Good Cat GT measures 4,254 MM long, 1,848 MM wide and 1,603 MM tall, with a 2,650-MM wheelbase. Its GT bodykit makes it slightly longer and wider than the regular Good Cat, while kerb weight stands at approximately 1,640 KG. 

The rounded Good Cat design is enhanced by a deeper GT-specific front bumper, gloss-black inserts and faux carbon-fibre cladding. Contrasting yellow accents around the bumper give it a more aggressive appearance than the regular Ultra.

A larger roof spoiler, diffuser-style rear valance and gloss-black bumper trim distinguish the GT at the rear. An electrically operated hands-free tailgate is also fitted as standard. 

Intelligent LED projector headlamps are paired with LED daytime-running lights and automatic operation. Their circular shape retains the Good Cat’s retro-inspired appearance despite the sportier GT treatment. 

Full-LED tail lamps are integrated around the rear windscreen area, allowing the tailgate to retain a smooth and uncluttered design. Additional lighting elements are positioned within the lower bumper.

The exterior mirrors are electrically adjustable and power-folding, with integrated turn indicators. Yellow mirror caps provide one of the GT’s most recognisable exterior details. 

Ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear discs work with ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist, stability control and regenerative braking. Yellow-painted brake calipers complement the GT’s exterior highlights. 

The Good Cat GT rides on 18-inch Y-spoke black alloy wheels wrapped in 215/50 R18 tyres. Yellow detailing around the wheels reinforces the model’s sportier character. 

Active-safety equipment includes ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist, Cornering Brake Control, stability control, traction control, hill-start assistance and tyre-pressure monitoring. 

Six airbags are fitted, comprising dual front, front-side and curtain airbags. The body structure uses approximately 65% high-strength steel, while ISOFIX mounting points are provided on the outer rear seats. 

Selectable driving modes adjust accelerator response, steering assistance and energy usage. Sport mode provides the sharpest response, while the efficiency-focused settings prioritise smoother acceleration and increased range.

The 10.25-inch touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and vehicle settings. My GWM application connectivity allows owners to check charging status, vehicle location, tyre pressure and climate-control information remotely. 

The Level 2 assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control with Intelligent Cornering, autonomous emergency braking, forward-collision warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Centre Keeping and Emergency Lane Keeping.

Blind-spot assistance, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert with braking, Traffic Jam Assist, automatic reversing assistance, three automatic parking functions and a 360-degree camera are also included.

A six-speaker audio system is fitted as standard. Media can be played through Bluetooth, USB, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. 

A single front-mounted electric motor produces 126 KW or 171 PS and 250 NM. This represents an increase of 28 PS and 40 NM over the regular Good Cat Ultra. 

Power is delivered through a single-speed electric reduction transmission, providing immediate acceleration without conventional gear changes.

The Good Cat GT uses a front-wheel-drive configuration, with its single electric motor powering the front axle exclusively. 

GWM Malaysia does not publish an official 0–100 KM/H acceleration figure for the Good Cat GT. Its increased motor output should provide stronger acceleration than the Ultra, while maximum speed remains approximately 150 KM/H.

The 57.7-kWh LFP battery provides up to 380 KM of WLTP range, or 460 KM under the NEDC cycle. Its stronger motor and sportier configuration reduce range slightly compared with the regular Good Cat Ultra.

Charging supports up to 6.6 KW AC and 60 KW DC. A full AC charge takes around nine hours, while DC charging from 30% to 80% requires approximately 38 minutes. 

Convenience equipment includes keyless operation, automatic lights and wipers, an electronic parking brake, panoramic sunroof, hands-free powered tailgate, wireless charging and connected functions through the My GWM application.

Dedicated rear centre-console air vents are not fitted. The single-zone automatic climate-control system includes a PM2.5 filter and distributes air mainly through the dashboard vents. 

MacPherson-strut front suspension and a multi-link rear arrangement provide a more sophisticated setup than the torsion-beam systems found in many compact hatchbacks. The GT remains suitable for everyday driving, although its 18-inch wheels and sporty tyres may produce a slightly firmer ride. 

The electric powertrain removes conventional engine noise and vibration from the cabin. Road and tyre noise may become more noticeable at highway speeds, particularly because of the GT’s larger wheels and sportier configuration.

The GWM ORA Good Cat GT adds stronger performance and a much sportier appearance without changing the practical formula of the regular Good Cat. Its 171-PS motor, suede sports seats, powered tailgate, panoramic roof and comprehensive driver-assistance equipment make the additional RM10,000 reasonably easy to justify.

However, the GT still uses relatively slow 60-KW DC charging, provides only 250 litres of luggage space and lacks dedicated rear air vents. Its 380-KM WLTP range is also shorter than the regular Ultra’s estimated range. Overall, it is best suited to buyers who value distinctive styling and additional performance more than maximum efficiency or practicality.
