Perodua QV-E

The Perodua QV-E is a five-seat electric sportback and the company’s first fully electric vehicle. Developed as Malaysia’s first homegrown BEV, it is locally produced at Perodua’s Smart Mobility Plant and offered with either battery leasing or full battery ownership.

Its regular price is RM69,999 with Battery-as-a-Service, plus RM215 per month including tax for nine years, or RM93,999 with the battery included. Until 30 September 2026, promotional prices are RM63,499 and RM87,499 respectively.

The QV-E uses a 150-KW front motor and 52.5-kWh LFP battery, providing 370 KM of WLTP range. Selected vehicle and high-voltage components receive warranty coverage of up to six years or 150,000 KM. The outright-purchase battery is covered for eight years or 160,000 KM, while the BAAS plan includes battery protection throughout its nine-year term.

The dashboard combines a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a matching 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. Soft-touch dashboard trim, ambient lighting and physical air-conditioning controls provide a familiar layout despite the EV-focused technology. 

The floating centre console houses a rotary gear selector, drive-mode controls, electronic parking-brake switches and storage compartments. A wireless smartphone charging pad is positioned near the front of the console.

The 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster presents speed, battery level, remaining range, energy consumption and driver-assistance information. A digital rear-view mirror improves rearward visibility through the shallow rear windscreen. 

Semi-leather upholstery is fitted across the five-seat cabin. The driver receives six-way powered adjustment, while the rear seatbacks fold in a 60:40 split when additional luggage room is needed.

The long wheelbase provides reasonable front passenger space, but the low Sportback roof and compact rear cabin limit headroom and legroom for taller rear occupants. The QV-E is therefore better suited to couples or smaller families than buyers regularly transporting five adults.

The two-spoke multifunction steering wheel provides controls for media, calls, voice commands, the digital display and driver-assistance systems. Tilt-and-telescopic adjustment is included.

Storage areas include large door pockets, seatback pockets, a glovebox and several compartments within and beneath the floating centre console. Hooks around the cabin provide convenient spaces for smaller bags and personal items. 

Cup holders are provided within the front centre console. Rear passengers receive additional drink holders through the folding centre armrest and door pockets.

USB and USB-C connections are available for mobile devices, including two charging ports for rear passengers. A wireless smartphone charger is also fitted at the front. 

The cabin combines soft-touch dashboard surfaces, semi-leather upholstery and ambient lighting with more conventional hard plastics around the doors and centre console. Its design is modern, although material quality remains closer to mainstream Perodua models than premium EV rivals.

The rear luggage compartment provides 320 litres of capacity. The 60:40 split-folding rear seats allow longer or bulkier items to be carried, but no front boot is provided. 

The QV-E measures 4,170 MM long, 1,800 MM wide and 1,502 MM tall, with a 2,680-MM wheelbase. Ground clearance stands at 158 MM, while kerb weight is approximately 1,600 KG. 

The low front end features a closed EV-style fascia, sculpted bonnet and black lower air intake. A continuous lighting strip and slim upper daytime-running lights give the QV-E a wider, more futuristic appearance.

Its sloping Sportback roofline flows into a roof spoiler and ducktail-style tailgate. Gloss-black bumper trim, a full-width lighting arrangement and a large Perodua emblem that doubles as the boot release complete the sporty rear design. 

Double-projector LED headlamps are positioned beneath the slim daytime-running lights. Sequential turn signals and the continuous front signature light provide a distinctive lighting graphic. 

A full-length LED rear light bar stretches across the tailgate. Sequential indicators and an LED high-mounted brake lamp are also fitted.

The exterior mirrors feature powered adjustment, automatic folding and integrated sequential turn indicators. Blind-spot warning indicators provide additional assistance when changing lanes. 

Disc brakes are fitted at the front and rear, supported by ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist and regenerative braking. An electronic parking brake with Auto Brake Hold is standard.

The QV-E rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels wrapped in 215/50 R18 tyres. A tyre-repair kit is supplied in place of a conventional spare wheel. 

Standard active-safety systems include ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, Brake Assist, traction control, electronic stability control, tyre-pressure monitoring and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold.

The QV-E also introduces Child Presence Detection, which uses millimetre-wave sensors to detect movement and breathing in the rear cabin. If a child or pet is left inside, the system can activate the horn, hazard lights and mobile notifications. 

Six airbags are fitted, comprising front, front-side and curtain airbags. ISOFIX child-seat mounting points, side-impact protection and seatbelt reminders are also included.

The QV-E achieved a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating under the 2021–2025 testing protocol. 

Selectable Eco, Normal and Sport modes adjust accelerator response and energy usage. The quoted 7.5-second acceleration figure is achieved in Sport mode. 

The 10.25-inch touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth and vehicle settings. P2 OneGo connected services provide remote functions, vehicle status, live location, geofencing and driving-history information through the P-Circle application.

The driver-assistance package includes autonomous emergency braking, forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Jam Assist and Highway Assist.

Blind-spot monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree surround-view camera further assist during lane changes and low-speed manoeuvres.

A six-speaker audio system is fitted as standard. Media can be played through Bluetooth, USB, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. 

A single front-mounted permanent-magnet electric motor produces 150 KW or 204 PS and 285 NM. This makes the QV-E the most powerful production Perodua model to date.

Power is delivered through a single-speed electric reduction drive. Immediate motor response provides smooth acceleration without conventional gear changes.

The QV-E uses a front-wheel-drive configuration, with the electric motor powering the front axle exclusively.

The QV-E accelerates from 0 to 100 KM/H in 7.5 seconds when Sport mode is selected. Top speed is electronically limited to 165 KM/H. 

Its 52.5-kWh CATL-sourced LFP battery delivers up to 445 KM under NEDC testing or 370 KM under WLTP. The liquid-cooled battery pack carries an IP69 dust- and water-resistance rating.

Charging supports up to 6.6 KW AC, requiring around eight hours for a full charge. Maximum DC charging is 60 KW, allowing the battery to be replenished from 30% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes.

Convenience equipment includes smart entry, push-button start, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a digital rear-view mirror.

The P-Circle application also allows owners to check the vehicle’s status, location and selected functions remotely. 

Dedicated rear air-conditioning vents are not fitted. Rear passengers rely on airflow from the front dashboard vents, although two rear USB charging ports are provided. 

The QV-E uses MacPherson-strut front suspension and a torsion-beam rear arrangement. Its low centre of gravity helps stability, while the 18-inch wheels provide reasonably controlled urban handling, although sharper road imperfections may still be noticeable. 

The electric motor removes conventional engine noise and vibration from the cabin. Wind noise is generally controlled at urban speeds, although tyre noise from the 18-inch wheels may become more noticeable on coarse highway surfaces.

The Perodua QV-E represents an important milestone as the company’s first EV and Malaysia’s first domestically developed battery-electric car. Its 204-PS motor, 370-KM WLTP range, comprehensive driver-assistance package and unique Child Presence Detection system make it one of the most technically advanced Perodua models.

The revised RM63,499 BAAS and RM87,499 outright promotional prices greatly improve its competitiveness. However, buyers must still consider the modest 60-KW charging rate, restricted rear space, lack of rear air vents and the long-term commitment attached to the nine-year battery-leasing option.

The outright-purchase version provides the simpler ownership experience, while BAAS suits buyers who prioritise a lower initial price and long-term battery management.
