Porsche Cayenne Electric

The Porsche Cayenne Electric is the fourth-generation Cayenne and the nameplate’s first fully electric model. It was previewed in Malaysia in June 2026, while Porsche Malaysia now lists the Cayenne Electric, Cayenne S Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric on its official model page. However, Malaysian pricing, final standard equipment and an official delivery timeline have not been announced.

All three variants feature dual-motor all-wheel drive and a 113-kWh battery. Outputs range from 442 PS with Launch Control in the base model to 1,156 PS in the Turbo, while the officially listed ECE driving range reaches up to 705 KM for the Cayenne S Electric. The high-voltage battery is covered for eight years or 160,000 KM.

The dashboard introduces Porsche Digital Interaction, centred around a curved OLED Flow Display that extends towards the centre console. Physical climate controls and an ergonomic hand rest remain below the screen to improve usability.

The rising centre console incorporates the lower section of the Flow Display, climate controls, storage and an adjustable armrest. Its layout creates a more enclosed and sports-car-like driving position despite the Cayenne’s large SUV body. 

A 14.25-inch curved OLED instrument cluster displays speed, power usage, charging information, navigation and assistance-system status. Its configurable graphics retain Porsche’s traditional multi-dial instrument appearance.

An optional 14.9-inch passenger display and augmented-reality head-up display are also available. The latter creates an effective 87-inch image positioned approximately ten metres ahead of the driver.

Eight-way electrically adjustable Comfort Seats with driver memory and heating are standard internationally. Optional upgrades include 14-way Comfort Seats, 18-way Adaptive Sports Seats, ventilation and expanded massage functions.

The rear seats provide powered backrest and 150-MM fore-and-aft adjustment, allowing occupants to prioritise passenger comfort or luggage capacity. Rear-seat heating is standard on the Turbo and optional on selected lower variants overseas. 

The longer 3,023-MM wheelbase provides considerably more space for rear passengers than the combustion-powered Cayenne. The SUV remains a five-seater, with generous headroom and adjustable second-row seating. 

The multifunction steering wheel includes controls for the displays, media and driver-assistance systems. Sport Chrono-equipped versions add a rotary drive-mode selector and dedicated performance functions.

Storage includes large door pockets, a glovebox, centre-console compartments and a smartphone tray. A separate 90-litre front boot provides useful space for charging cables and smaller bags. 

Two removable cup holders are positioned within the centre-console compartment. They can be adjusted to different heights or removed completely to increase the available storage area. 

The centre console provides two wireless smartphone charging areas rated at up to 25 W. USB-C connections provide up to 60 W at the front, while two additional high-output ports can supply up to 100 W each.

The interior can be configured with leather, Race-Tex, metal, wood and other premium materials. Ambient Communication Light, extensive colour choices and optional surface heating further strengthen the luxury-focused presentation. 

Luggage capacity ranges from 553 litres with the rear seats in their most comfortable position to 781 litres in the cargo setting. Folding the 40:20:40 rear seatbacks increases maximum capacity to 1,588 litres, while the front boot adds another 90 litres. 

The Cayenne Electric measures 4,985 MM long, 1,980 MM wide and 1,674 MM tall, with a 3,023-MM wheelbase. It is 55 MM longer than the combustion-powered Cayenne, while its wheelbase has increased by approximately 128 MM to improve passenger space. 

The low front end features a smooth EV-specific fascia, strongly sculpted wings and slim lighting units. Active cooling-air flaps and aerodynamic air channels help the large SUV achieve a drag coefficient of approximately 0.25.

The rear receives a very wide three-dimensional light bar with illuminated Porsche lettering. Turbo models add active aeroblades that work with the adaptive rear spoiler and cooling-air flaps to improve aerodynamic efficiency. 

Flat Matrix LED headlamps incorporate the main lighting functions within slim housings. More advanced HD Matrix LED lighting is available depending on the selected variant and equipment configuration. 

The full-width LED tail lamps feature animated graphics and illuminated Porsche lettering. Their downward-curving centre section gives the Cayenne Electric a distinctive appearance at night. 

Conventional exterior mirrors are fitted alongside frameless doors and flush-fitting handles. Power adjustment, heating, folding and memory functions will depend on the final Malaysian specification. 

The Cayenne uses mechanical disc brakes together with an exceptionally powerful regenerative system capable of recovering energy at up to 600 KW. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes are available for buyers requiring stronger resistance to repeated high-performance braking.

Wheel designs and sizes vary by variant. The Cayenne S Electric is distinguished by 20-inch Cayenne S Aero wheels, while larger performance-oriented designs are available through Porsche’s extensive personalisation programme. 

Active-safety equipment includes electronic stability control, traction management, autonomous emergency braking, lane monitoring and collision-warning functions. Final Malaysian standard equipment will only be confirmed closer to the official launch.

The Cayenne Electric integrates its battery into the body structure to improve rigidity and protection. Multiple airbags, ISOFIX child-seat mountings and comprehensive occupant-restraint systems are expected, although the exact Malaysian airbag specification has not been announced. 

Selectable settings vary according to equipment but include normal road, performance and off-road configurations. The optional Sport Chrono package adds Sport Plus, while the air suspension provides raised settings for uneven terrain. 

The Android Automotive-based Porsche system supports downloadable applications, streaming, gaming, configurable widgets and AI-assisted voice functions. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can also display navigation and communication information within the instrument cluster. 

Available systems include adaptive cruise control, lane-change assistance, continuous steering support, parking assistance and a three-dimensional surroundings display showing lanes and nearby road users. The optional Drive Assist system adds predictive speed control and enhanced steering support. 

The final Malaysian audio specification remains unconfirmed. Porsche offers premium audio upgrades and Porsche Electric Sport Sound, which adds a performance-focused soundtrack that responds to accelerator input and the selected driving mode. 

The Cayenne Electric produces 300 KW or 408 PS normally and 325 KW or 442 PS with Launch Control. The Cayenne S develops 400 KW or 544 PS, increasing to 490 KW or 666 PS, while the Turbo delivers 630 KW or 857 PS and up to 850 KW or 1,156 PS and 1,500 NM with Launch Control. 

Each electric motor uses compact two-stage, single-speed reduction gearing. Unlike the Taycan, the Cayenne does not use a two-speed rear transmission.

All three SUV variants use dual-motor all-wheel drive with electronic Porsche Traction Management. The system can adjust power distribution within milliseconds, while the front motor can be disconnected under lighter loads to improve efficiency. 

The Cayenne Electric accelerates from 0 to 100 KM/H in 4.8 seconds, followed by 3.8 seconds for the Cayenne S Electric. The Cayenne Turbo Electric completes the sprint in 2.5 seconds and reaches 200 KM/H in 7.4 seconds.

Top speeds are 230 KM/H, 250 KM/H and 260 KM/H respectively.

All variants use a 113-kWh NMC battery with double-sided liquid cooling. During the Malaysian preview, Porsche quoted WLTP ranges of approximately 642 KM for the Cayenne Electric, 652 KM for the S and 624 KM for the Turbo.

The 800-volt architecture supports 390-KW DC charging, briefly reaching 400 KW under specific conditions. Charging from 10% to 80% takes approximately 16 minutes. Standard AC charging is rated at 11 KW, with 22-KW onboard and 11-KW wireless charging offered as options.

Convenience features include Porsche Digital Key, powered luggage compartments, adjustable rear seating, remote pre-conditioning and connected controls through the My Porsche application. The Digital Key can be shared with up to seven users.

Rear passengers receive dedicated climate outlets, while four-zone climate control is available depending on configuration. Optional surface heating warms selected door and armrest areas in addition to the seats. 

Adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management is standard and continuously adjusts ride height and damping. Optional Porsche Active Ride uses hydraulic control to reduce body roll while maintaining comfort over uneven surfaces.

Rear-axle steering is also available, reducing the turning circle by around one metre at lower speeds while improving high-speed stability.

The quiet electric drivetrain, aerodynamic body and extensive cabin insulation should provide strong long-distance refinement. However, the final Malaysian wheel specifications and local road performance will influence tyre and road noise.

The Porsche Cayenne Electric combines genuine SUV practicality with performance previously associated with electric supercars. Its spacious adjustable cabin, large luggage capacity, 3.5-tonne maximum towing capability and ultra-fast charging make it significantly more versatile than many performance EVs.

The Cayenne S appears to provide the strongest balance of performance and range, while the Turbo’s 1,156-PS output is aimed at buyers seeking maximum acceleration. Its major disadvantages will likely be its considerable 2.6-tonne weight, high eventual Malaysian price and dependence on rare 400-KW chargers to achieve its fastest charging time. Malaysian pricing and final local equipment must therefore be confirmed before its value can be properly assessed.
