The Seres 3 is a B-segment fully electric SUV introduced in Malaysia in December 2025 by local distributor Oriental Swan Motor Group. It continues into 2026 unchanged and is offered in a single variant, with the initial Malaysian allocation limited to just 10 units.

The Seres 3 uses a front-mounted electric motor producing 120 KW (161 HP) and 300 NM, paired with a 53.6 KWH NMC battery. Driving range is rated at 405 KM NEDC, equivalent to around 340 KM WLTP, while the current Malaysian price is RM95,000 on-the-road without insurance.

The cabin uses a relatively traditional dashboard design centred around a 10.25-INCH touchscreen infotainment display.

A separate fully digital instrument cluster sits directly ahead of the driver, while physical controls remain available for frequently used cabin and vehicle functions.

The centre console uses a conventional layout with the electronic drive selector positioned between the front occupants.

Storage areas, cup holders and physical vehicle controls are also incorporated into the console, giving the Seres 3 a more familiar layout than many newer touchscreen-heavy EVs.

The Seres 3 features a full-LCD digital instrument cluster.

It displays essential information including speed, remaining battery charge, driving range and other EV-related vehicle data.

Leatherette upholstery is fitted throughout the cabin.

Both front seats receive powered adjustment, while the second-row backrest can be folded in a 60:40 split to increase luggage capacity.

The Seres 3 accommodates five occupants across two seating rows.

Its 2,655 MM wheelbase provides useful passenger space for a B-segment SUV, while its relatively tall 1,650 MM body also contributes to good headroom.

An electrically assisted rack-and-pinion steering system is used.

The multifunction steering wheel incorporates audio controls, allowing frequently used infotainment functions to be operated without reaching for the central display.

Storage is distributed through the centre console, glove compartment and door pockets.

The large rear luggage compartment and split-folding second-row seats add further practicality for larger items.

A total of four cup holders are provided.

Two are positioned for front occupants, with another two available for passengers in the rear.

Device connectivity comprises two USB ports at the front and another two USB ports for rear occupants.

A front power socket is also provided for additional accessories.

The cabin combines leatherette upholstery with conventional plastic and gloss trim surfaces.

Its overall presentation is functional and reasonably well equipped, although the dashboard architecture and switchgear reveal the Seres 3's older design origins compared with newer-generation Chinese EVs.

Boot capacity stands at a generous 525 L with the rear seats upright.

The 60:40 split-folding second row allows additional cargo space when required, while a space-saver spare tyre is stored beneath the boot floor – a rare inclusion among modern EVs.

The Seres 3 measures 4,385 MM long, 1,850 MM wide and 1,650 MM tall, with a wheelbase spanning 2,655 MM.

Kerb weight stands at approximately 1,650 KG, giving it dimensions broadly comparable with other compact SUVs such as the Honda HR-V and Proton X50.

Up front, the Seres 3 adopts a relatively conventional compact-SUV appearance with a closed-off EV fascia, sculpted bonnet and prominent headlamp housings.

Vertical daytime running light elements and a large lower bumper treatment give the front end additional visual presence despite the absence of a conventional radiator grille.

The rear receives a conventional upright SUV tailgate accompanied by a roof-mounted spoiler and relatively large rectangular lighting units.

Its straightforward styling reflects the Seres 3's older platform origins rather than the more minimalist designs found on newer dedicated EVs.

The Seres 3 is equipped with LED projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights.

Automatic headlamp operation is also included as standard.

At the rear are LED combination tail lamps with a conventional split arrangement.

A rear fog lamp is also provided as standard.

The exterior mirrors incorporate integrated LED turn indicators.

Unlike many newer EVs at this price point, however, the Malaysian Seres 3 does not receive powered side mirrors, with adjustment and folding handled manually.

The Seres 3 uses disc brakes at all four wheels.

Supporting systems include Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program and Traction Control.

The Malaysian Seres 3 rides on 18-INCH alloy wheels.

These are wrapped in 225/55 R18 tyres, while a space-saver spare tyre is unusually provided beneath the luggage compartment floor.

Active safety equipment includes ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program and Traction Control.

Also standard are Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Auto Brake Hold and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

The Seres 3 is equipped with six airbags, comprising dual front airbags, front side airbags and side curtain airbags.

Five three-point seat belts, ISOFIX mounting points on the two outer rear seats, manual rear child locks and front seat-belt reminders are also provided.

The Seres 3 provides selectable driving modes, allowing the electric drivetrain's response to be adjusted according to driving requirements.

Regenerative braking is also incorporated to recover kinetic energy during deceleration.

A 10.25-INCH touchscreen infotainment system is fitted as standard.

It supports Bluetooth connectivity together with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, providing smartphone-based navigation, media and communication functions.

Driver assistance is one of the Seres 3's weakest areas.

It receives conventional passive cruise control, four rear parking sensors and a reversing camera, but no Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring or other modern ADAS functions are fitted to the Malaysian specification.

Audio is delivered through a six-speaker sound system.

Media can be accessed through Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the central infotainment interface.

As a fully electric vehicle, the Seres 3 replaces a conventional combustion engine with a single electric motor.

Mounted at the front axle, it produces 120 KW (161 HP) and 300 NM.

The electric motor is paired with a single-ratio automatic transmission.

Power is delivered directly without the multiple gear changes required by a conventional combustion-engine drivetrain.

The Seres 3 uses a front-wheel-drive configuration.

Its single electric motor sends all available output exclusively to the front wheels.

The Seres 3 accelerates from 0-100 KM/H in 8.9 seconds.

Maximum speed is rated at 160 KM/H, placing its performance firmly within everyday compact-SUV territory rather than the performance-oriented end of the EV market.

As a battery-electric vehicle, the Seres 3 consumes no petrol or diesel.

Its 53.6 KWH NMC lithium-ion battery provides up to 405 KM NEDC, with a more realistic quoted range of around 340 KM WLTP.

AC charging is supported at up to 11 KW, with 0-80% taking approximately four hours. Maximum 60 KW DC fast charging replenishes the battery from 0-80% in around 40 minutes.

Standard conveniences include keyless push-button start, four powered windows with one-touch operation and anti-pinch protection, powered front seats and rain-sensing wipers.

Single-zone automatic climate control, Auto Hold and automatic headlamps are also fitted.

However, keyless entry and powered exterior mirrors are absent, which is unusual for a vehicle positioned around the RM95,000 mark.

Dedicated rear air-conditioning vents are standard.

They supplement the single-zone automatic climate-control system and provide more direct airflow to second-row occupants.

The Seres 3 uses MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a torsion-beam arrangement at the rear.

Its relatively tall 225/55 R18 tyres and comfort-oriented SUV setup favour everyday usability rather than aggressive handling.

The fully electric drivetrain eliminates conventional engine noise and significantly reduces drivetrain vibration during low-speed driving.

However, dedicated acoustic glazing or active noise-cancellation technology is not listed for the Malaysian Seres 3, leaving tyre and wind noise as the dominant sources at higher speeds.

The Seres 3 offers a useful combination of 161 HP, 300 NM, five-seat SUV practicality and a generous 525 L boot, while its 340 KM WLTP-class range should be sufficient for normal urban and intercity use.

Its six airbags, powered front seats, rear air vents, 10.25-inch infotainment system and 11 KW AC charging are welcome, but the model clearly shows its age through its 60 KW DC charging, manual side mirrors, lack of keyless entry and complete absence of modern ADAS.

At RM95,000, it faces extremely strong competition from newer-generation EVs with better safety technology, faster charging and more sophisticated platforms. Combined with the Malaysian allocation being limited to only 10 units, the Seres 3 is ultimately a niche introduction rather than one of the strongest value propositions in the current EV market.
