The 2026 XPENG X9 is the facelifted version of XPENG’s flagship seven-seat electric MPV, offered in Malaysia in three variants – 2WD Standard Range, 2WD Long Range and AWD Performance.

The Standard Range and Long Range use a 235 KW (315 HP) and 450 NM front-mounted electric motor, while the AWD Performance employs a dual-motor system producing 370 KW (496 HP) and 640 NM.

Battery capacity ranges from 94.8 KWH to 110 KWH, with maximum driving range reaching 615 KM WLTP. Official Peninsular Malaysia prices stand at RM281,073 for the Standard Range, RM299,073 for the Long Range and RM335,573 for the AWD Performance, on-the-road without insurance.

The X9 adopts a minimalist dashboard dominated by a large 17.3-INCH central touchscreen.

A separate digital instrument display sits ahead of the driver, while a 21-INCH Head-Up Display projects key driving and navigation information directly into the driver’s field of vision.

The centre console provides extensive storage together with dual 50 W air-cooled wireless smartphone chargers.

An integrated electrically operated refrigerator can both cool and warm stored items, adding another luxury-focused feature to the front cabin.

A fully digital driver display presents speed, range, battery status and driver-assistance information.

It is complemented by the large 21-INCH Head-Up Display, reducing the need for the driver to look away from the road.

All seats are upholstered in full-grain top-layer Nappa leather.

The driver and front passenger receive 12-way electrically adjustable seats with four-way lumbar support, along with heating, ventilation, massage and memory functions.

The Standard Range and Long Range feature 14-way second-row adjustment, while the AWD Performance upgrades to 18-way Grand Sofa Seats with powered headrest and leg-rest adjustment.

The third-row seats are also heated and electrically adjustable.

The X9 accommodates seven occupants in a 2+2+3 configuration.

Its second-row seats slide along rails measuring up to 1,100 MM, providing exceptional flexibility between passenger and luggage space.

Second-row passengers receive pop-up cup holders integrated into their individual seat areas.

The X9 provides an extensive device-charging setup comprising five USB-C ports, one USB-A port and two 12 V sockets.

Front occupants receive two 50 W air-cooled wireless chargers, while second-row passengers receive another pair of 50 W wireless charging pads.

The cabin combines full-grain Nappa leather with soft-touch materials, metallic detailing and multi-colour rhythmic ambient lighting.

High-quality seat surfaces, electrically operated components and the minimalist dashboard give the X9 a distinctly premium appearance aimed at luxury MPV buyers.

With all seven seats in use, luggage capacity stands at a generous 721 L.

The electrically folding third row can disappear into the floor, expanding maximum cargo volume to approximately 2,554 L.

A deep submerged luggage compartment also allows large items and multiple suitcases to be carried even with all seats occupied.

The X9 measures 5,316 MM long, 1,988 MM wide and 1,785 MM tall, with a substantial 3,160 MM wheelbase.

Kerb weight stands at 2,750 KG for the Standard Range, 2,690 KG for the Long Range and 2,745 KG for the AWD Performance.

Despite its considerable dimensions, standard active rear-wheel steering significantly improves manoeuvrability in tighter spaces.

Up front, the X9 adopts XPENG’s clean and futuristic Robot Face design language with a slim full-width daytime running light treatment positioned above the main lighting units.

The closed-off EV fascia, sculpted lower bumper and smooth body surfacing contribute to an exceptionally aerodynamic appearance for a vehicle of this size.

Its drag coefficient is rated at just 0.236.

The rear adopts a distinctive fastback-inspired profile with a steeply raked rear windscreen, roof spoiler and broad full-width lighting treatment.

A powered tailgate provides access to the deeply recessed luggage compartment, while the electrically folding third-row seats can disappear into the cargo floor at the touch of a button.

The X9 features automatic LED headlamps with automatic high- and low-beam operation.

Headlamp height adjustment and Intelligent High Beam functionality are also provided, improving illumination while reducing glare for surrounding road users.

The rear features a slim full-width LED tail-light assembly integrated into the sculpted tailgate.

Its horizontal lighting signature visually widens the X9 and complements the continuous lighting treatment at the front.

The XPILOT ASSIST suite is powered by an XP5 Turing AI chip supported by three millimetre-wave radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors and twelve cameras, including a driver-monitoring camera.

Functions include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Control, Adaptive Turning Cruise and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist.

Also provided are Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Detection, Door Open Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Lane Keeping, Rear Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Parking assistance includes Enhanced Auto Parking Assist, Auto Exit Parking Assist, Remote Parking Assist, Remote Vehicle Summon, 360-degree camera, Transparent Chassis and Narrow Path Assist.

Audio is delivered through a 27-speaker XOPERA sound system.

It features a 1,552-WATT external amplifier and a 7.1.6-channel configuration, while the driver additionally receives two dedicated headrest speakers.

As a fully electric vehicle, the X9 uses electric motors rather than a combustion engine.

The Standard Range and Long Range feature a single permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 235 KW (315 HP) and 450 NM.

The AWD Performance combines a permanent magnet synchronous motor with an induction motor for a total system output of 370 KW (496 HP) and 640 NM.

All variants use a single-ratio automatic electric transmission.

The electric drivetrain delivers immediate torque without conventional multi-speed gear changes.

The Standard Range and Long Range use front-wheel drive, with their single electric motor powering the front axle.

The AWD Performance adds a second motor to create an all-wheel-drive configuration.

The Standard Range accelerates from 0-100 KM/H in 8.2 seconds.

The Long Range reduces this slightly to 7.75 seconds, while the AWD Performance completes the same sprint in 5.9 seconds.

Maximum speed for all three variants is 200 KM/H.

As a fully electric vehicle, the X9 consumes no petrol or diesel.

The Standard Range uses a 94.8 KWH LFP battery and provides 535 KM WLTP range.

The Long Range uses a larger 110 KWH NMC battery and achieves the longest range at 615 KM WLTP.

The AWD Performance uses the same 110 KWH NMC battery but delivers 580 KM WLTP due to its more powerful dual-motor drivetrain.

All variants support 11 KW AC charging. A 5-100% charge requires approximately 9.5 hours for the Standard Range and 11 hours for the two 110 KWH versions.

Thanks to the latest high-voltage charging system, DC charging peaks at an extraordinary 537 KW for the Standard Range and 542 KW for the Long Range and AWD Performance. All three can complete a 10-80% recharge in approximately 12 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

Vehicle-to-Load output of up to 6 KW is also supported.

Convenience equipment includes electrically operated anti-pinch sliding doors, power soft-closing front doors, powered tailgate, electric hidden door handles and an electrically operated charging-port cover.

A panoramic glass canopy, front manual and rear electrically operated sunshades, rain-sensing wipers, mobile-phone Bluetooth key and XPENG App remote control are also standard.

The X9 features an advanced five-zone automatic climate-control system.

Its Windless Surrounding Central Air Conditioning system uses electrically controlled vents to distribute airflow more gently throughout all three rows.

Air quality equipment includes a CN95 filter, PM2.5 monitoring and an Air Quality Control System.

One of the X9’s strongest features is its standard intelligent dual-chamber air suspension.

The system continuously adjusts ride height and damping characteristics according to road conditions and driving behaviour.

Standard active rear-wheel steering further improves manoeuvrability at low speeds and stability at higher speeds, helping the 5.3-METRE-long X9 feel considerably smaller from behind the wheel.

Acoustic laminated glass is fitted to the windscreen, first-row windows, second-row windows and panoramic roof.

Privacy glass is additionally fitted to the second and third rows and rear windscreen, while the inherently quiet electric drivetrain further reduces mechanical noise and vibration.
