Earlier today, Dorna Sports, the commercial licence holder for MotoGP, announced extension of PETRONAS’s  contract as the exclusive fuel supplier to the Moto2™ and Moto3™ classes. This would see the Malaysian fuel giant fuel both the intermediate and lightweight classes of Grand Prix racing.

The extension of the contract would encompass two core objectives. First being paving the way towards sustainable fuel in 2024 where PETRONAS aims to become a sustainable fuel partner of both Moto2™ and Moto3™. This would involve PETRONAS investing and pushing forward in areas such as the racing laboratory, driving progress and innovation in the name of a sustainable future.

Secondly, in addition to supplying Moto2™ and Moto3™ with high-performance, high-quality fuel, the agreement also covers the matters of track advertising where PETRONAS would retain global visibility throughout the 2013 MotoGP™ season. PETRONAS would also see its branding at the countdown signal boards on the grid for Moto2™ and Moto3™.

According to Datin Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz, Senior General Manager, Group Strategic Communications PETRONAS, “I am pleased that PETRONAS will continue to be the Exclusive Fuel Supplier to the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championship from 2023 onwards. Moving forward, the partnership will evolve and see PETRONAS work closer together with Dorna Sport and push towards making the championship more sustainable by reducing carbon emissions”.

Adding to that, Carmelo Ezpeleta, DORNA CEO said “We’re very happy to extend our partnership with PETRONAS and especially so as our new era of sustainable fuel appears on the horizon”.
