Honda Malaysia remains as Malaysia’s Number One brand in the Non-National Passenger Vehicle Segment for the ninth consecutive year since 2014. The firm recorded 80,200 units sold throughout 2022, which surpassed its own 2022 sales target and marked a 51% compared to its total sales in 2021 too.

The firm credits much of its 2022 success to the launch of the new 11th generation Civic in January as one of the leading factors. This was followed up with the introduction of the e:HEV RS variant of the popular sedan later in November, not forgetting the introduction of the new generation HR-V range before that in July too.

“With Challenging Spirit, Honda Malaysia shifted into higher gears in 2022 and exceeded our sales target with the strong support from all the stakeholders,” said Hironobu Yoshimura, CEO and MD of Honda Malaysia. He also noted that 2022 was a challenging year with global chip shortage and flood disasters that have affected their car production.

According to Honda Malaysia, the City model stood as its best-seller throughout 2022. The B-segment sedan contributed 36% of its overall 2022 sales, whilst its de-booted City Hatchback twin supplied 14% instead.

The latter hatch also stood as one of the brand’s top three best-performing models for 2022, which also included the aforementioned new HR-V. Said crossover SUV contributed to 20% of the firm’s 2022 overall sales figures since it was launched.

In terms of regional sales, Honda Malaysia notes that the Central region continues to be its highest sales contributor as 51% of its sales were generated here. Coming in second to which is the Southern region with 19%, followed by the Northern region with 17%.

Honda Malaysia further emphasises that the company will continue providing the best quality in terms of its product offering as well as sales and after-sales services for customers aside being optimistic about the automotive sector in 2023.

Apart from that, the firm added that it is working closely with both suppliers and dealers to ensure timely delivery for customers, especially those who booked their cars during the sales tax exemption period.
