Porsche Thailand Celebrates 30th Anniversary With Record-Setting Gathering

Porsche marks several key milestones this year which includes both the 75th anniversary of its sportscars and the 60th anniversary of its 911 model line. On top of which, this year also sees the brand mark its 30th anniversary in Thailand as well.
Said occasion in the Kingdom north of our border was recently celebrated through a record-setting gathering held in its capital of Bangkok. Called ‘Das Treffen’, which translates to ‘The Meeting’ in German, the event marked its seventh edition this year since it first began back in 2016 thanks to founder Sihabutr ‘Tenn’ Xoomsai.

The event has grown over the years to feature both classic and modern Porsche cars and enthusiasts together. The latest edition of which now stands as the largest ever Porsche gathering held in the South East Asia region, in fact.
This year, Das Treffen carried the theme of ‘Dreams in Colours’ and paid homage to the array of bright colours that Porsche offers, as well as the many personalities of its models. Held at Bangkok’s IMPACT Speed Park, the gathering also featured a Gymkhana Zone where owners compete in time trials, as well as a Kids’ Driving School.

Besides that, and the dozens of customer-owned cars that were on display during the event, Porsche Thailand also unveiled a special art installation inspired by the seven colours of the week in Thai culture. Featured in this installation too was the 918 Spyder hybrid hypercar – a relative rare model in both the Kingdom and the region.

Speaking of rarity, the 911 contingent at Das Treffen also received special attention with rare and sought-after models on display. Amongst them were the likes of the 911 Speedster in a Paint-to-Sample Oak Green Metallic and a classic 911 F-Series in Burgundy Red.

Sihabutr 'Tenn' Xoomsai, founder of Das Treffen.
“I always had a thing for Porsche since I was a kid. The first Porsche I drove belonged to my father’s friend. He came over to our house one day in a brand new 964, tossed me the keys and asked me to get them something to drink. I never forgot that day – the sound, the smell and the kick in the back,” recounts Das Treffen’s founder Sihabutr.
“The best way to enjoy a Porsche is to share it. Since then, that is what I tried to do – to share my passion with my friends and fellow enthusiasts,” expressed Das Treffen’s founder Sihabutr regarding his inspiration to host this event series.
