Chery Malaysia appoints Inokom as local assembler.
Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd has been appointed as Chery Automobile Co Ltd's local assembler in Malaysia.
Chery Corporate Malaysia country director Leo Chen stated that the partnership is intended to strengthen the company's presence in Southeast Asia's emerging markets, which have seen encouraging growth.

For the record, Chery exported over 450,000 vehicles in 2022.
The Chinese automaker's local assembly operation in Malaysia is set to begin in June this year, with the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro models set to go on sale in July. The assembly line, according to current plans, can support an initial capacity of up to 20,000 units per year.

Chery Malaysia Country Director, Leo Chen, stated today at the Chery brand launch event at the Malaysia Autoshow 2023, "With nearly three decades of experience in assembling vehicles of many world-renowned brands, Inokom is an ideal partner for Chery in our mission to take root in Malaysia and provide Malaysian consumers with high-technology and high-quality vehicles that are ahead of the curve in terms of design."

“As we have done successfully in many other markets, Chery is determined to localise its operations in Malaysia as far as possible. We believe this will bring us closer to Malaysian consumers to fully understand their needs and wants, not to mention contribute economically to the nation through technology transfer as well as the creation of jobs and strategic opportunities,” Chen added.
