smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) says the smart #1 premium EV crossover now ranks as Malaysia's third best-selling premium EV SUV priced above RM180,000.

In a press statement issued earlier today, smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) revealed that its sole offering – the smart #1 EV crossover SUV – now ranks as Malaysia’s third best-selling premium EV SUV priced above RM180,000.

According to smart Malaysia, the Malaysian EV market experienced a sales volume surge in just one year, rising significantly from just 3,079 vehicles sold in 2022 up to a whopping 11,624 units shifted in 2023. This also translates to a rise in market share from 0.43% to 1.45%.

smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) didn't disclose any figures, but insiders note that the top three ranking the brand is claiming stems from the total registered units of the #1 recorded as of Feb 2024 (year-to-date).

smart Malaysia credits this industry growth being stemmed from rapid electrification and shifting consumer preferences, which is also tandemly reflected in the positive reception of the smart #1 amongst local consumers.

Adding to the latter is smart Malaysia’s efforts in expanding its network, and running various sales campaigns coinciding with recent festive holidays – Chinese New Year and, more recently, Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Whilst PRO-NET didn’t reveal exact numbers of the smart #1 it shifted since it was launched back in Nov last year, insiders at the firm say that the third place rank in the category mentioned is based on total registered units of the smart #1 as of Feb 2024 (year-to-date) recorded and tracked internally.

'This milestone reflects the growing demand for urban mobility solutions in the region and reaffirms smart's goal to position itself as a leader in the premium EV segment,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of smart Malaysia, in light of this recent achievement.
