smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) earlier today teased the smart #3 during the Kuala Lumpur Car-Free Morning (KLCFM) event held along Dataran DBKL.

The #3, set for local launch this year, will be a larger-sized offering that’s positioned above the #1 model the firm launched last year.

Based on the images released on social media, we can fairly deduce that the camouflaged model shown is the smart #3 Brabus variant. This is based on the faux air-vent openings on the bumper above the headlight bar.

What puzzles us is the choice of wheels (which are also camouflaged). The smart #3 appears to have been fitted with the special edition 25th Anniversary wheel option, leading us to believe that we may see said special guise offered in Malaysia when it launches.

That aside, it seems we would most likely get the same offering as other right-hand drive (RHD) markets do. We can expect the smart #3 arriving two baseline variants - the Pro+ and Premium - both powered by the same rear-mounted (RWD) single electric motor rated at 268 horsepower (200 kW). Meanwhile, the range-topping Brabus model should feature a peppier dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration rated at 422 HP (315 kW), allowing this EV SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 KM/H in just 3.7 seconds.

The smart #3 sits 4,400 MM long with a 2,785 MM wheelbase, 1,844 MM wide, and 1,556 MM tall. Compared to the #1, the #3 is 130 MM longer, 22 MM wider, but 80 MM lower shorter.

Based just on dimension, we predict that the smart #3 will be the sportier option, appealing to younger-aged buyers. Watch this space for further information in the weeks leading up to its launch.
