Hyundai Motor Company’s high-performance N-Division unveiled the RN24 during its annual “N-Day” event. The RN24, according to Hyundai, is the next-generation ‘Rolling Lab’ that showcases the future of high-performance electric vehicles (EVs).

This “Rolling Lab” is designed based on the N-Division’s three key pillars: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sports Car to develop thrilling, performance-oriented vehicles that are also practical for daily driving.

RN24 marks the latest evolution in Hyundai N’s Rolling Lab series, which tests motorsport tech for future production models. This vehicle continues the legacy of experimental platforms like the RN22e and N Vision 74, pushing the boundaries of high-performance EV technology.

Designed to deliver maximum power in a compact, lightweight package, the RN24 features a 641 HP dual-motor system lifted from the IONIQ 5 N. This powerful setup is housed in a compact chassis inspired by the World Rally Championship (WRC), bringing B-segment agility to the electric performance car.

The redesigned 84 kWh battery pack, 340 MM shorter than its production counterpart, further emphasises RN24’s focus on compact power. This Rolling Lab is capable of dispatching 0-100KM/H dashes under 3.4 secs and hit a V-max of 240 KM/H, but it is not just about speed; it’s about precision and drivability, with motorsport-inspired technologies designed to elevate the driving experience.

Additionally, the RN24 takes inspiration from Hyundai’s WRC race machine featuring a WRC-style suspension setup with rally-spec dampers and high-rigidity subframes, ensuring a dynamic, race-ready feel. The vehicle’s advanced Powertrain Drive Control system allows drivers to adjust key settings, such as PE Power and Acceleration Sensitivity, using steering wheel controls—bringing rally-level performance to an everyday EV.

RN24 also boasts a ‘Rally Mode’ motor torque control, optimising torque distribution to all four wheels for enhanced handling. Additionally, its e-Handbrake, adapted from Hyundai’s WRC experience, helps reduce weight by eliminating the need for physical brakes to perform certain manoeuvres.

Adding to the driving excitement is RN24’s high-output “sound system”, with an external speaker setup that amplifies the vehicle’s performance sound. The exposed roll cage, inspired by WRC concepts, enhances both safety and vehicle stability during high-speed manoeuvres.

Hyundai N’s RN24 is a bold vision for the future of high-performance electric vehicles. By blending motorsport technology with everyday practicality, Hyundai N is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of electrified driving.
