The Chery Omoda E5 EV SUV has earned coveted 5-star scores from both the Euro NCAP and ANCAP crash-test assessment bodies, revealed Chery Auto Malaysia earlier today.

Earlier today, Chery Auto Malaysia revealed that its all-electric Chery Omoda E5 offering has earned a coveted 5-star safety ratings from both the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) and Australasian New Car Assessment Programme (ANCAP) bodies.

The three key areas where the Omoda E5 scored highly were Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection and Safety Assist. Across these three fronts, both the Euro NCAP and ANCAP assessment bodies awarded the model between 83% and 88.

The three fronts where the Omoda E5 scored highly were Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, and Safety Assist.

Furthermore, the Omoda E5 was also subjected to additional safety evaluations such as frontal offset and oblique pole crash tests to assess its overall safety performance and integrity of its high-voltage battery pack.

The Chinese automaker also highlighted that the Omoda E5 performed seamlessly in key Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) tests for Vulnerable Road User (VRU) protection, as well as Safety Assist (SA) where challenges posed by unpredictable road users were also addressed.

Chery also highlighted that the high accuracy and swift response times charted by Omoda E5's AEB system when tested by both the Euro NCAP and ANCAP bodies.

Tests conducted by both Euro NCAP and ANCAP showed that the Omoda E5’s AEB accurately identified  targets over a broad speed range, responding swiftly to mitigate collision risks. In turn, Chery says this also saw the Omoda E5 setting a benchmark for active safety performance.

“Our consumers can be rest assured and confident of driving home a stylish EV, equipped with the latest technologies and top-tier safety features.” said Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia.
