Honda Malaysia maintains its position as Malaysia’s No. 1 non-national passenger car brand in 2024, with 81,600 units sold.

Honda Malaysia has maintained its position as the number one non-national passenger car brand in Malaysia, as the Japanese automaker managed to sell a total of 81,600 vehicles in 2024. Announced by managing director Hironobu Yoshimura during the official launch of the 2025 Honda Civic Facelift earlier today, this record-breaking sales figure also marked a 2% increase over the 80,027 units sold back in 2023.

Although Honda Malaysia does not elaborate much on its 2024 sales performance, this latest feat also sees Honda Malaysia extending its streak as Malaysia’s number one non-national car brand for an impressive eleven consecutive years. Not to forget, this also puts Honda ahead of Toyota (UMW Toyota Motor) for more than a decade, at least in the passenger vehicle segment.

That is because the number one non-national overall car brand title still goes to Toyota, albeit still behind both the national automakers—Perodua and Proton—when it comes to overall national and non-national ranking.

Given that the announcement was made during the new Civic launch, Honda Malaysia took the opportunity to announce that the Civic has retained its position as Malaysia’s most popular non-national C-segment sedan model, holding a whopping 81% of the market share last year. Rivals to the Civic would include the Toyota Corolla and Mazda3, as well as the Proton S70 from the national brand category.
