Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will enhance security measures, including deploying more auxiliary police personnel, particularly in high-risk areas, to prevent track trespassing following an incident where a person died and four others were injured after being hit by a KTM Komuter train while walking on railway tracks between Teluk Pulai and Klang.
KTMB chief operating officer Mohd Zain Mat Taha stated that the company would work with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) further to improve law enforcement on operational grounds and guarantee strict adherence to safety requirements.

"This is part of our efforts to strengthen existing laws and curb trespassing incidents.

"Passenger safety and seamless train operations remain our top priorities," he said in a statement today, referring to last Tuesday's incident that disrupted KTM Komuter services.

This isn't even the first time KTMB has had issues with safety on their trains. Recently, a 72-year-old woman was harassed by a group of male youngsters aboard the KTM Komuter Ladies Coach when it was heading from Bukit Badak Station to Shah Alam Station.

It is clear that KTMB needs to take immediate and effective action to address these problems and ensure the safety and security of all passengers, especially women and vulnerable individuals. They need to increase security presence on trains and at stations, implement stricter enforcement of rules and regulations, and launch public awareness campaigns to promote respect and safety on public transport.
