Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reportedly took delivery of a gift in the form a new electric vehicle (EV) yesterday. Said EV, which is an unnamed model from Turkish brand Togg, was a gift from Turkish president  Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Datuk Seri Anwar also reportedly test-drove the EV yesterday. Despite taking ownership over it, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim vowed and promised to return the EV after. “I may use it while I am Prime Minister, but after that, it must be returned to the country,” he said.

“He presented it to the Prime Minister, but I consider it a gift to the nation… It is not mine,” clarifies Datuk Seri Anwar further. The gift arrived ahead of a planned two-day official visit to Malaysia by Erdogan that starts today. During which, both leaders are expected to discuss various issues.

It is believed that Datuk Seri Anwar was gifted with a Togg T10F - a C-segment fastback saloon made by Türkiye’s homegrown EV maker.

Besides the T10F (left), Togg also produces the T10X crossover SUV (right). Erdogan famously took delivery of the latter and became the nameplate's first owner.

Though it goes unnamed, the EV model gifted to Anwar by Erdogan is from Togg, which is Türkiye’s first major national manufacturer of electric cars. It widely believed that Anwar had been gifted with the T10F – the marque’s second model revealed globally last year.

Positioned as a C-segment EV fastback saloon, the T10F mentioned is available in both single- and dual-motor guises. Whilst the former outputs a claimed 218 PS and 350 NM, the latter ups the ante to 435 PS and 700 NM instead. The saloon also boasts a a claimed maximum range of up to 600 KM.

Besides the T10F sedan, Togg also produces a C-segment crossover SUV christened as the T10X. Underneath, the T10X also employs the same single- and dual-motor setups as seen in its grounded T10F twin, but it has a lower claimed max range figure of 523 KM.
