At Auto Shanghai 2025, Geely Auto reaffirmed its leadership in safety and innovation with the launch of several groundbreaking initiatives, including a new battery brand, a dedicated battery group, and the world's largest standalone automotive safety facility.

Geely introduced the ShenDun Golden Short Blade Battery, a self-developed and self-produced battery designed for maximum safety, high energy density, and fast charging. Built on the LPF Short Blade battery architecture, a version of it is already powering vehicles like the Geely Galaxy E5 and Proton e.MAS 7.

The battery is part of a larger strategy led by the newly formed Ji Yao Tong Xing industrial group. This new entity consolidates Geely’s battery operations under one umbrella, including the ShenDu Golden Battery and Short Blade Battery. Ji Yao Tong Xing’s mission is to push the boundaries of battery safety and performance while supporting Geely’s long-term EV ambitions.

To ensure unmatched safety, Geely continues to apply its rigorous Six Devil Tests across all battery units. These include salt water submersion, underbody impact, deep freeze at -35°C, 130-second heat resistance at 1000°C, 8-pin penetration, and high-speed side collisions. Geely’s test protocol now spans 115 battery safety tests, setting new global benchmarks.

Geely is also the first automaker to conduct New Energy Underbody Collision Tests, addressing the risks of road debris and ground impact - issues critical to real-world EV safety. These innovations are further supported by Geely’s GEA EVO platform, which provides structural integrity, high efficiency, and full compatibility with its battery technologies.

A highlight of the announcement was the upcoming Geely Global Safety Center. Once completed in the second half of 2025, it will be the world’s largest standalone safety laboratory. This all-weather facility will accelerate battery and vehicle testing under extreme and diverse conditions.

Geely is also fostering industry collaboration by opening key patents. In response to new national regulations for underbody impact testing, Geely will release its patent for the battery pack bottom impact testing device, enabling wider adoption of these critical safety measures.
