Perodua has unveiled its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV), the QV-E (pronounced ‘Que-Vee’).The project took 28 months to develop and build at P2’s new Smart Mobility Plant as part of its mission in shaping Malaysia’s EV ecosystem under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030).

While the debut marks a major milestone for the national carmaker, its EV support infrastructure is starting small. Despite having more than 200 outlets across Peninsular Malaysia, Perodua has appointed only nine of which as Perodua EV Authorised Centres during this initial rollout, and none are currently located in East Malaysia.

These nine centres are spread across key regions in the peninsula. In the northern region, support is available at Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd (PSSB) Juru in Prai and PSSB Ipoh 2 in Perak. The central region is covered by Perodua Sentral in Petaling Jaya, PSSB Glenmarie in Shah Alam and PSSB Putrajaya

The southern and east coast markets each have limited coverage, with PSSB Senawang in Negeri Sembilan and PSSB Johor Bahru 1, while the east coast is served by PSSB Kuantan in Pahang and PSSB Kota Bahru 1 in Kelantan. For now, these locations form the core of Perodua’s early EV sales and aftersales operations.

Perodua has also noted that production will rise from the current 500 units a month to 3,000 units by Q3 2026 and as this ramp-up progresses, the dealer network is expected to grow accordingly.

According to information we gather, dealership expansion - including into East Malaysia - is already being mapped out and is likely to be announced soon. If timelines hold, this could happen as early as the first quarter of 2026 once the initial rollout phase is fully stabilised, which aligns with what we believe to be Perodua’s phased approach.

The QV-E, launched at RM80,000, carries a 52.5 kWh LFP battery offered through a Battery-as-a-Service subscription package priced at RM275 a month. The model also features Perodua’s latest safety technologies, including a Child Presence Detection system capable of identifying movement and vital signs in the rear cabin.
