UMW Toyota together with Toyota Captial Malaysia has introduced a vehicle subscription service called Kinto One. Subscription or leasing service eliminates the administrative issues of vehicle ownership, instead promote "usership".

Kinto One is offering almost every vehicle from the catalogue, with only the Toyota Hilux pick-up not available. Monthly subscription fee starts from RM1,678 for a Toyota Vios J on a 36-month plan, while at the other end of the spectrum is the full-size Toyota Fortuner SUV, starting from RM4,338.

Lexus models are also available in the subscription service, with the UX200 starting from RM7,658 a month.

While the fixed monthly subscription fees are higher than what you would normally pay for in a traditional hire-purchase repayment, the subscription fee is also inclusive of the annual comprehensive insurance, 24-hour roadside assistance, road tax, as well as periodic and preventive maintenances.

There is no downpayment required to being driving too, just the first month’s payment, one-month refundable security deposit and a small sum for stamping duty. At the end of your usage plan, the user returns the vehicle at the Kinto One centre.

Kinto One is also providing additional value through the concierge service. The team will inform the user on scheduled servicing and maintenance needs, followed by arrangements for pick-up and delivery of the vehicle.

Toyota Capital Malaysia President, Thomas Chai said, “Kinto One is the direct translation of a strategic partnership between Toyota Capital Malaysia and UMW Toyota Motor and is a distinctly curated respond to the new generation lifestyle seeking for mobility. It is about the shift of consumer behaviour from car ownership to car usership.”

Two packages are currently available, either 24 or 36-month leasing program. Both have their mileage capped to 30,000 kilometres a year. The service is however not available in Langkawi and Labuan.

Kinto One also promotes new vehicle experience every three years, after the end of the leasing term. A note to remember, leasing and subscription programs are about vehicle "usership", not ownership.
