Rolls Royce Ghost And Ghost Extended Unleashed In Malaysia
Haunting the streets of Malaysia is the highly anticipated 2nd generation of the Rolls Royce Ghost as it was recently unleashed by Rolls Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur on March 29th,2021.

Rolls Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur is offering the new Ghost in two variants, starting with the standard wheelbase model that is priced at RM 1.45 million and the extended wheelbase model priced at RM 1.65 million.

The new Rolls Royce ghost is built upon the company’s ‘post-opulent’ philosophy and this resulted in a design and development which focused on simplicity, delivered through the brilliance of its engineering and manufacturing techniques.
To the naked eye, designing of the Ghost may come off as a little familiar but in truth, the only remaining elements adopted from the previous model are the famed ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ and the signature umbrellas in the doors.

On the face, the Ghost just oozes with minimalism. The bonnet’s design is now stretched forward and is accompanied with the shimmering silver of the Phanteon grille, enabling the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ to rest in its own ‘lake’ of steel.

Panning to the side, the minimalism is further enhanced by a single stroke striking through to emphasize the length of the car. At the bottom, a ‘waft line’ can be seen imitating the design of a boat which uses reflection to lighten the surfacing, in turn creating a seamless sense of motion.
Significant about the new Ghost is the dimensions, particularly its length. For the standard wheelbase version, it is standing at a length of 5,545 mm and for the extended wheelbase version it is at 5,715 mm, which has 170 mm in difference. All the extra space is dedicated to the rear passenger room.

As for the illumination, the Ghost gets rectangular shaped headlamps which feature C-shaped LED DRL’s. Paired with a front lighting set up, which is a first for Rolls Royce that sees 20 LEDs fitted underneath the top of the radiator grille.

Coming towards the back, it can be seen fitted with a refined set of near-square tail light graphics. That has been modernized with a slight forward tilt and is no longer enclosed by shut lines, giving out an appearance as if there were two floating islands on the rear edges of the bumper.

Brilliant engineering is also a part of the Rolls Royce Ghost. It is built on the company’s aluminum space frame architecture that provides strength, rigidity and acoustic properties, all to deliver Rolls Royce’s highly praised ‘magic carpet ride’.
Driving comfortability of the new Ghost is possible due to a self-levelling air suspension system, that is paired with the company’s first ‘Planar Suspension System’, where the front upper wishbones get their own dampers.

Adding onto that, is the ‘Flagbearer’ function, which uses a stereo camera system integrated in the windscreen to scan the road ahead and prepares the air suspension to soften up any bumps.
Under the hood, both Rolls Royce Ghost are sporting a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine. It has a power output of 563 hp and 850 Nm of torque which is paired to a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox.

All the power from the mill is transmitted to all four wheels with an all-wheel drive system and it is able to dash from a standstill to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
However, all Rolls Royce cars are best indulged inside. It is based on the company’s ‘Formula for Serenity’ that features more than 100 kg of acoustic insulation applied in the doors, roof, between the double-glazed windows, inside the tyres and within almost the entirety of the cabin.

Aforementioned, as comfort being of utmost importance, the engineers have built the cabin with a concept the company dubbed as ‘whisper’ by implementing a soft undertone to ensure sound deficiency doesn’t disorient occupants.
It is done by tuning certain components so that they share a common resonant frequency. This includes the damped seat frames and exit docks, which have been added under the boot floor to allow disruptive frequencies to escape.

Upholstery wise, for Rolls Royce only the best is considered. Inside, the Ghost can be seen fitted with the finest leathers, woods and metals which are all customizable under the bespoke division. Also, located in between the rear seats, is a champagne fridge that gets a function of two climate settings.

Moving on to the entertainment side of things, the Ghost’s sound delivery features an 18-channel, 18-speaker, 1,300-watt audiophile grade sound system. The remarkable ‘Starlight Headliner’, now comes with a shooting star feature and also has been transformed into a large speaker.
Other than that, the Ghost is installed with an industry leading 7x3 high-resolution instrument cluster with a head-up display. As for the infotainment it gets a twin screen set up that supports WiFi connectivity and a 360-degree camera system.

The Ghost also comes equipped with a set of driver assistant systems such as parking assist, collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure and lane change warning, blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert and vision assist with day and night wildlife and pedestrian warning.
Moreover, a new feature has also been equipped and it is called the Micro-Environment Purification System (MEPS).
This system detects if there are any airborne toxins that are reaching an excessive amount and will automatically switch on the recirculation mode, directing all air through a nano fleece filter that removes the ultra-fine particles in under two minutes.
Orders for the Ghost and Ghost Extended have opened for the Malaysian market and the pricings aforementioned are before taxes. Every new Rolls Royce comes with a four-year, unlimited mileage warranty with an option for an additional two, three or five years ownership packages.
