Motorcyclist Dies On DASH EXPRESSWAY Crash

Image shared on Facebook by Encik Hafidzul
Earlier today it was reported that a motorcyclist lost his life after crashing on the newly opened DASH Expressway. The incident was shared on Facebook by a user Encik Hafidzul.
The accident happened during early hours of the morning and did not involve any other vehicles. Not much details have been made available so far except for a post on Facebook.
DASH Expressway opened its doors to the public on 14th October with a toll free usage period until 30th November. Up to now the highway has indeed served its purpose in reducing congestion throughout the routes from Puncak Alam up to Penchala and all other bypass roads in between although there is indeed a bottleneck now created at the exit in Penchala.

The scene of the unfortunate incident.
Based on our own observation having commuted on this expressway a couple of times, the road from the Penchala entrance up to Subang 2 (KWASA) is indeed extremely dangerous. This is due to the presence of multiple sharp corners that can catch any drivers not paying attention or misjudging the corner off guard.
Adding to this are sharp corners at certain areas which are not paved well resulting in a bumpy road surface. Furthermore, at the Penchala to Subang stretch both ways, there are quite a few corners that have uneven surface undulation that can easily upset any vehicle's stability should they carry some speed into it. Driving here during rain or at night would greatly increase the risk of crashing.

The highly visible uneven road surface.
Furthermore, from our observation, the walls at most stretch along the expressway seems very low for a highly elevated road which could potentially cause vehicles or people to fly off the expressway in the event of an accident. More road signages are also needed especially at the exits as drivers tend to miss the main large signages put up further before the exit ramps.

Road signages needed at exit points.
We hope the concessionaires of DASH Expressway, PROLINTAS will take measures to address these issues soon in order to provide their paying users not only a shorter drive but more importantly a safer drive.
UPDATE:
Petaling Jaya police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said that the accident involved a SYM VF3i motorcycle ridden by a sole 24-year old Malaysian male rider. The rider succumbed to his injury on the spot. It is believed that the rider had lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the road divider. The incident happened at KM15.7 heading Penchala towards Denai Alam.
The police are investigating this incident under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987. They are also calling for any witnesses to step forward to help the investigation to determine the cause of death. Any eye witnesses are ask to contact traffic investigation officer Muhammad Hisyam Azih at 017-7378704.
