MYR 5,000 Subsidy For A New Car Under MYR 60,000

A subsidy of MYR 5,000. Well, that’s what the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton, Roslan Abdullah, proposed to the government for anyone who intends to get a new vehicle.
Plucking from Berita Harian, Roslan said that the subsidy can be given to individuals who want to buy a new vehicle priced below MYR 60,000.
"This initiative can be considered in the 2023 Budget, because it can not only increase the ownership of affordable new cars, but also reduce the number of old vehicles on the road," he remarked.

Furthermore, he also suggested that the government should extend incentives for electric vehicles (EV) to the hybrid vehicle segment.
Specifically, to hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and light hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV).
As he said, this move can at least maximize the use of new vehicle technology and preserve the environment.

That said, is it appropriate for the government to provide a MYR 5,000 subsidy for those who wish to buy a new vehicle under the price of MYR 60,000? Let us know your thoughts below.
