Perodua Waiting Period Now Between 2.5 To 8 Months, Production Up By 32.95%

Perodua announced today that its year-to-date sales have jumped by 32.95% year-on-year in February 2023. Alongside that, its vehicle production also rose from 38,460 units to 51,134 units. Overall sales were also on an upwards trajectory with an increment of 33% in just the first two months of the year, from 34,865 units to 46,385 units.
The positive hike in sales figures were attributed to Perodua’s better financing scheme to its dealers, as well as improved communication within its established ecosystem and with its customers.

Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad added, “While there are still ongoing challenges with the supply of semiconductor chips, cost increases – among others but despite these challenges, we managed to see double-digit growth in our production and sales, for this we thank our partners for their dedication.”
Dato’ Sri Zainal further said that market demand for its vehicles has always been good and Perodua is pushing for higher production numbers to meet this ongoing demand.

“As a result, the average waiting period as of Feb 28 is now between 2.5 months and 8 months. Of course, this timeframe is subject to the model, variant, and colour,” Dato’ Sri Zainal said. He too apologised for delays and thanked loyal customers for their patience.
Dato’ Sri Zainal added, Perodua is constantly working on improving its ecosystem especially with regards to production and vehicle delivery timing to fulfil customers orders in a quick and timely manner.
Dato’ Sri Zainal also touched on the outlook of Perodua and the automotive industry in general that paints a positive picture given the current stabilised economic conditions with the focus now being directed towards labour force stability, especially for the automotive suppliers to ensure timely production is improved.
