BMW Has Built its 1 Millionth MINI hatchback

The modern day MINI 3-door hatchback made by BMW Group reached a major milestone recently when the model’s 1 millionth unit rolled out of the production line from its plant in Oxford, England.
This milestone coincides with the MINI brand’s landmark 110th anniversary celebrations that takes place this year. Founded in 1959, MINI underwent several ownership changes right up until 2000 before it was acquired by the BMW Group.
After which, the Bavarian marque developed and debut the first generation rendition of the modern MINI hatchback in 2001, which bore the R50/52/53 chassis code. The second-gen R56/57 model ensued in 2006 before the current third-gen F55/56/57 model arrived in 2013.

Current (third) generation MINI 3-door hatchback, chassis code: F55/56/57.

The most potent current MINI hatchback is the JCW GP, which packs 302 HP and 450 NM that enables 0-100 KM/H in just 5.2 seconds.
Despite growing both in size and power outputs over the years, the modern MINI hatch retains a distinct and unmistakable look that’s heavily inspired by the 1959 original designed by Sir Alec Issigonis. According to BMW, the MINI 3-door is characterised by dynamic lines, clear shapes, and short overhangs, thus making the agile four-seater ideal for the urban landscape.
Besides Oxford, the 3-door hatch model was also briefly produced in BMW’s plant in The Netherlands.

Current MINI electric, which packs 184 HP and promises up to 232 KM in range.
While it is unclear as to when exactly the current modern-day rendition of the iconic British hatchback will end, a new fourth-gen model has already been spied recently sporting a revised design that somehow retains its original and unmistakable shape.
Also, the next-gen MINI hatchback is set to embrace electrification in full as BMW has reportedly planned two variants for which. These promises to up the ante in terms of range and performance over the current-gen MINI Electric.
