HSDM has officially launched the fourth-gen Hyundai Tucson C-segment crossover SUV earlier today.

Barely a week after opening the order books and previewing it publicly, the new fourth generation Hyundai Tucson compact crossover SUV has finally launched itself into the local market. Brand custodians Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) officially announced this via a press release issued earlier today.

As reported prior, this Korean C-segment crossover SUV fighter arrives as a fully imported (CBU) offering across three variants with two powertrain choices available. The range starts with a base 2.0 Lite, followed by a mid-spec 1.6T Plus, and is capped off by the top-spec 1.6T Max.

Three variants are available, all sporting Hyundai's latest and striking 'Sensuous Sportiness' design motif.

Said design ethos is also evident in the cabin's wrap-around dash design with button-less centre stack, and push-button gear selector.

All variants sport the Hyundai brand latest ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design, bringing forth a rather striking outlook and stance. Notable here is the distinct ‘Parametric Jewel’ front fascia with ‘concealed’ LED DRLs and flanked by all-LED headlights, full-width taillight, as well as angular, chiselled surfaces.

On board, the design theme continues with a striking and modern wrap-around dash design featuring a button-less centre stack below an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen display. Notably, the latter sports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity plus voice recognition primed across all variants.

8-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus voice recognition is standard kit across the board.

We’ll start breaking down each variant with the base 2.0 Lite first. This is the sole offering to employ Hyundai’s familiar yet proven 2.0-litre MPI 4-cyl petrol heart paired with a 6-speed conventional automatic box. Rated at 156 PS and 192 NM, this package sees 0-100 KM/H sprints done in 11.4 seconds.

Other traits of this base variant include 17-inch wheels, conventional cruise control, fabric seats upholstery, manual front seat adjustment, 4.25-inch TFT LCD instrument display panel, manual air-conditioning unit, and reverse parking assistant.

Powering the 1.6T Plus and Max variants is a 1.6-litre TGDi 4-cyl turbo mill paired with a 7-speed DCT auto box, the latter boasting novel push-button selector too.

Moving up to the 1.6T Plus and Max variants, both benefit with a peppier 1.6-litre TGDi 4-cyl turbo petrol lump and 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission (DCT) pairing instead. Rated at 180 PS and 265 NM, this package sees 0-100 KM/H sprints achieved in 8.8 seconds instead.

The mid-specced 1.6T Plus also gets larger 19-inch wheels, whilst its innards are bolstered with 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, leather upholstery, steering-mounted paddle-shifters to match its push-button gear selector, as well as a tyre pressure monitor (TPMS).

Both 1.6T Plus and Max variants share 19-inch alloy wheels (left), but only the range-topping Max sees its full-width taillight adopt full-LED illumination.

Both 1.6T Plus and Max also gets leather upholstery, but only the Max offers 8-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation functions.

The range-topping 1.6T Max, on the other hand, sees even more bells and whistles primed. Notable with its exterior are the added aluminium roof rails and adoption of all-LED illumination for its taillight.

On board, the 1.6T Max gets front seats featuring 8-way power adjustment plus heating and ventilation function, a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument display, powered tailgate, wireless smartphone charger, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, and automatic wiper activation.

Also exclusive to the 1.6T Max range-topper is the 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, and the Hyundai SmartSense ADAS package in full.

Exclusive in this range-topper too is the Hyundai SmartSense active driver assist (ADAS) suite in full. Smart Cruise Control with stop-go function, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance (BCA), as well as Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) with added junction (FCA-JT) detection, are all present.

Shared across all three though are basic safety features. The package includes 7 airbags, ABS with ESC, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), ISOFIX childseat anchors, both Blind-spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Safe Exit Warning (SEW), and Rear Occupant Alert (ROA).

Prices read at RM158,888 (2.0 Lite), RM178,888 (1.6T Plus), and RM195,888 (1.6T Max).

As for prices, HSDM has tagged the base 2.0 Lite variant at RM158,888, whilst the 1.6T Plus and 1.6T Max duo command RM178,888 and RM195,888 respectively. All prices are on-the-road figures excluding insurance costs.

Lastly, in conjunction with its launch, HSDM is offering the first 100 customers who book the new Hyundai Tucson before 31 Dec 2023 with a complimentary 5-year or 300,000 KM extended warranty and 3-year or 50,000 KM free service package worth RM10,000.
