The much-awaited smart #1 all-electric luxury crossover was formally unveiled by smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) yesterday at the #TAKETHEsmartWay Grand Launch event which took place at MITEC, KL.
During the unveiling, PRO-NET disclosed that they had already received more than 500 reservations for the smart #1, which officially went on sale on September 19, 2023. Reservations were made with a refundable RM1,000 deposit through the Hello smart mobile app. In addition, the first 501 buyers who placed the #1 EV SUV pre-order were eligible for RM1,001 in charge credits, which they would be able to redeem when their new EV SUV is delivered.

Remarkably, of these approximately 500 reservations, 60% were for the range-topping BRABUS variant, which costs RM249,000. Retail prices for the entry-level PRO variant would be RM189,000 and RM219,000 for the mid-specced PREMIUM variant.
Meanwhile, smart Malaysia dealers nationwide will also commence the deliveries of the first 300 smart #1 units from today onwards, with this first batch already arrived in Malaysia since last month. For new bookings, however, PRO-NET said that customers may face a relatively brief waiting period of one month.

PRO-NET hopes to take advantage of the growing demand for EVs with a target of selling between 800 and 1,000 units of the smart #1, which could see them gaining at least a 10% market share in this electrified space.
