Indonesia's First High-Speed Railway Handles 1m Passenger Trips
Since its official commercial launch on October 17, the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR), the first HSR in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, has handled over a million passenger trips, the China State Railway Group Co. Ltd. reported.
On Sunday, the number of passenger trips on the railway surpassed one million.
As the year draws to a close, the steadily increasing number of passengers has forced PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), a joint venture consortium comprising Chinese and Indonesian companies that builds and operates the HSR, to step up train services from 14 daily trips to 48.

Working groups from China and Indonesia have been pushing together since mid-October to ensure that the HSR operates at a high standard by meeting the needs of passengers.
Some of the things they have done to improve the system include encouraging online ticket sales, enhancing passenger boarding and landing services to increase efficiency, and integrating other transit systems with the HSR to make travel easier.

The 142.3-km HSR reduces the travel time from over three hours to about forty minutes between Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and Bandung, in the West Java province, with a design speed of 350 km/h.
