Second JPJ Recall Notice - 5,590 Mercedes-Benz, Toyota & Chery Models Affected

The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) has issued its second bulk recall notice for this year involving 5,590 vehicles. This initiative is part of the department's renewed efforts to notify vehicle owners about their vehicles' involvement in any product recalls.
The recall activities currently being implemented by three vehicle manufacturers involve Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and Chery. These recall activities have been carried out by the vehicle manufacturers since March 2024 and are still ongoing.

Vehicle owners involved in this recall will be contacted by their respective vehicle manufacturers to set an appointment date for a vehicle inspection. Vehicle owners are requested to adhere to the scheduled appointment date for the convenience of both parties.
JPJ also addressed the rear axle failure issue involving the Chery Omoda 5. According to JPJ, Chery Auto Malaysia Sdn Bhd had initiated a recall activity starting on May 3, 2024, and informed the Road Transport Department (JPJ) of this recall progress.
As of June 7, 2024, Chery has inspected 592 out of the 600 Chery Omoda 5 vehicles involved in this recall, achieving a completion rate of 98.67%. The remaining vehicle owners have been contacted to finalise the inspection schedule, and it is expected that this activity will be completed by the end of this month.

According to JPJ, the completion timeframe for the recall activity is dependent entirely on the cooperation provided by the vehicle owners.
