The Mercedes-AMG One Has Broken its Own Nurburgring Record

The Mercedes-AMG One continues its record-breaking streak, as the manic, F1-powered hypercar now has charted a new Nurburgring record for the fastest production vehicle.

At 6:29.090, the Mercedes-AMG One became the first production car to break the 6:30 barrier at the Nurburgring.
What’s interesting about this new feat is that not only the AMG One’s 6:29.090 record time made it the first production model to break the 6:30 barrier at the ‘Green Hell’, but the hypercar also beat its own previous record by a healthy margin of five seconds. More importantly, this new record also puts the AMG One in the same breath as some purpose-built racecars.

Mercedes-Benz factory and DTM driver Maro Engel was again tasked to put the AMG One to its limits around the infamous 'Green Hell'.
Piloting the F1-derived hybrid hypercar was Mercedes-Benz’s DTM driver Maro Engel, who was also in charge of setting the AMG One’s initial record two years ago. This new record run took place back on September 23, 2024, where the track condition was completely dry this time around, allowing Engel to extract the “maximum potential” out of this manic hypercar.

For its record-breaking run, Mercedes-AMG engineers have set up the AMG One to its “maximum camber values within the delivery tolerance," while the drive mode was set to “Race Plus," which lowers the car’s front axle by 37 MM and the rear axle by 20 MM. Combined with its F1-derived turbo hybrid powertrain rated at 1,049 HP and an active aerodynamic system that includes a DRS-style rear wing, it comes as no surprise that the AMG One manages to break all these records with relative ease.
Not to forget, this specific AMG One also rode on the standard-fit Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R MO tyres used on the standard model, albeit they were specifically developed for the hypercar by Michelin themselves.

While the AMG One’s record-breaking feat may seem impressive in hindsight, we’d reckon that this record might not stand too long. Some of the potential rivals to the AMG One’s Nurburgring crown may include the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack, as well as the upcoming McLaren W1 hypercar.
