The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has ramped up enforcement nationwide, inspecting 37 Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centres (PUSPAKOM) leading to the seizure of 21 commercial vehicles for breaching the Road Transport Act 1987.

JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli revealed that Ops Khas PUSPAKOM, which began on Dec 31, uncovered serious offences, including the use of fake Motor Vehicle Trade Licences (LPKM), expired road tax and insurance, and the misuse of LPKM issued to other companies.

Among the seized vehicles was a lorry that had passed PUSPAKOM inspection despite failing to meet safety standards. According to Datul Aedy, “This vehicle was impounded under Section 64(1) of the Act to prevent further violations.”

The operation is part of a broader initiative by JPJ in partnership with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to ensure commercial vehicle safety and prevent technical violations.

Ops Khas PUSPAKOM focuses on rigorous inspections before, during, and after periodic or preliminary checks at PUSPAKOM, ensuring that vehicles on Malaysian roads meet the highest safety standards. This initiative is a critical step toward protecting road users and reducing fatalities linked to commercial vehicles.

This is in line with JPJ’s commitment for a safer, corruption-free road system for everyone.
