Besides the usual Chinese suspects, the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show 2025 (BIMS 2025) also saw several models from legacy automakers making their regional debuts. Included on the list is the sleek Mazda 6e all-electric saloon, which is essentially the overseas market version of the China-only Mazda EZ-6.
Fresh from making its European debut earlier this year, the 6e unit shown at Bangkok’s Impact Arena is the left-hand drive (LHD) version of the EV saloon. Although its appearance at this year’s BIMS serves as a mere preview, Mazda Thailand did confirm that the right-hand drive (RHD) version of the 6e is due for debut in Thailand later this year.

The local press release described the 6e as the “first 100% electric vehicle developed by Mazda under the multi-solution technology approach,” but those who checked out our initial reports on the EZ-6 knew that the 6e shares the same underbones as Changan’s Deepal L07. For those who don’t know, Changan is Mazda’s long-time partner in China, where the Chinese automaker helped to manufacture some Mazda products for the Chinese domestic market.
Some specs thrown by Mazda Thailand include a sizable 80-kWh battery pack that promises to deliver 522 KM of EV range to this sleek saloon, plus fast charging capabilities that see the pack charge from 30-80% in just 15 minutes. Predictably, no further details were shared by the automaker, so our best bet is to refer to the EU-spec 6e for some details on its powertrain.

For the European market, the 6e comes in two variants, both with a single, rear-mounted (RWD) motor setup. The baseline model gets a 255 HP (190 KW) and 320 NM-rated e-motor, juiced by a smaller 68.8-kWh LFP battery pack for up to 479 KM of WLTP range. Meanwhile, the top-spec Long Range variant gets a larger 80-kWh NMC battery unit that supplies it up to 552 KM of WLTP range, albeit at the expense of a less peppy e-motor setup rated at only 241 HP (180 kW).

With Mazda Thailand already confirming the arrival of the 6e EV saloon into their market, it begs the question of whether local Mazda vanguard Bermaz Auto Berhad (BAuto) has any plans to bring this sleek EV saloon into our market. Coincidentally (or not), BAuto is also appointed as the official importer and distributor of Changan’s Deepal EV brand into our market, with the Deepal S07 EV SUV slated to be its first model to debut locally.
So, any chance of the Mazda 6e to make its local debut alongside the Deepal S07 later this year? Leave your thoughts in the comments down below...
