VW ID. Every1 Concept Previews Future Affordable EV Hatch

The all-new Volkswagen ID. Every1 concept serves as a preview to the marque’s upcoming entry-level EV hatch.
Following the shadow-draped teaser last month, Volkswagen has finally revealed its latest EV concept, known as the Volkswagen ID. Every1. This all-electric hatch concept will serve as a preview to VW’s upcoming entry-level EV hatch, with its production version set to arrive later in 2027.
Positioned between the outbound Up and Polo hatches, the new ID. Every1 concept is set to go against the likes of other European small, urban-oriented EV hatches like the Dacia Spring, Leapmotor T03, and Fiat 500e, to name a few.

In terms of design, we can see that the ID. Every1 gets a pretty similar five-door hatch design as its upcoming larger sibling, the VW ID.2. Some quirky design bits are also being borrowed from VW’s previous concept EV hatch, the VW ID. Life, including the full LED headlights with vertical LED DRL strips, illuminated VW emblems on both ends, LED taillights with similar lighting signatures as the headlights, flushed door handles, and many more.

Despite its small 3,880 MM length, Volkswagen promises the ID. Every1 to boast a respectably practical interior, with enough space to harbor no less than four adults at one time. Boot space is also quite decent, with VW quoting a 305-litre cargo bay primed on this small EV hatch.

Don’t let its ‘entry-level’ moniker fool you, as the EV concept gets a pretty premium-looking cabin. Should all these bits trickle down directly to its production version, we can expect a pretty upmarket feel in this supposed ‘entry-level’ EV hatch, with key equipment primed here including a large central screen, a two-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons and controls, a slim digital metre cluster, as well as tons of storage compartments and cubbies.

Now, to the most important bits. Unlike other existing VW EVs, the new ID. Every1 underpins the marque’s new version of its MEB EV platform, featuring a front-wheel drive (FWD) layout for change. Power is provided by a front-mounted electric motor rated at 94 HP (70 kW), which VW claims is enough to provide a V-max of up to 130 KM/H to this urban EV hatch.
Granted that we’re still in the dark on its battery specs, numerous sources have quoted that it will be quite small, considering the claimed 250 KM EV range made by VW. Also not mentioned was the charging performance for the ID. Every1, but we certainly won’t expect mind-boggling ultra-fast charging capabilities out of this supposed entry-level EV.

The VW ID. Every1 has all the makings to become one of Europe's most affordable EV models in the future.
What ultimately will be the biggest selling point for the new VW ID. Every1 is its price tag, with Volkswagen promising a price tag lower than €20,000 (RM95,679) for its production version, making it the cheapest EV model ever made by the automaker. For reference, rival Dacia Spring currently retails at €17,300 (RM82,762), while Stellantis-owned Leapmotor T03 goes for €18,900 (RM90,416) a pop, so VW better get things right with this EV hatch in order to make its price competitive against said adversaries.
