BYD Sealion 7 Excels in 2025 Euro NCAP Crash Tests

The 2025 BYD Sealion 7 has secured a strong fire-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, showing solid performance across all tested categories. The D-segment EV SUV, achieved an 87% score for Adult Occupant Protection, earning 34.8 out of 40 points.
In frontal impact tests, the Sealion 7 scored 11.9 out of 16 points, with good protection recorded for the knees and femurs of both driver and passenger. Structural stability was maintained, and the protection level was consistent across different occupant sizes and positions.

Side impact performance was a highlight, with the Sealion 7 scoring the full 16.0 out of 16 points in both the side barrier and side pole tests. Far-side impact testing showed adequate control of occupant excursion, and the centre airbag offered good head protection for both front seat occupants.
Whiplash protection tests scored 3.9 out of 4 points, with both front and rear seats offering strong defense against neck injuries. The vehicle is also equipped with a multi-collision braking feature.


As for Child Occupant Protection, the Sealion 7 posted an impressive 93% score, totalling 46.0 out of 49 points. It achieved full marks for crash performance using six and ten year old dummies in both frontal and side collisions.
The SUV also performed perfectly in Child Restraint Systems (CRS) installation checks, scoring 12.0 out of 12 points. Child safety features, including airbag deactivation and a child presence detection system, earned 10.0 out of 13 points.

In the Vulnerable Road Users assessment, the Sealion 7 scored 76% or 48.4 out of 63 points. Head protection was generally adequate, though weak around the windscreen pillars. Pelvis protection scored 3.9 points, and leg protection was mixed, with 3.2 points for the femur and 7.7 for the knee and tibia.
The car’s AEB system responded effectively to pedestrians and cyclists, scoring 6.9 out of 9 and 7.9 out of 8 points, respectively. Motorcyclist detection and avoidance earned a perfect 6.0 out of 6 points. The cyclist dooring prevention system scored 0.3 out of 1.

In the Safety Assist category, the Sealion 7 achieved a 79% score, with 14.3 points out of 18. Lane support systems were rated “good” and scored 2.5 out of 3, while AEB for car-to-car collisions delivered 7.5 out of 9 points.

The speed assistance system, combining map and camera data, earned 2.5 out of 3 points. Driver monitoring and fatigue detection systems were also tested, scoring 0.9 out of 2, while seatbelt reminders contributed a full 1.0 point.
Overall, the BYD Sealion 7 presents itself as a strong contender in the electric SUV segment, combining solid structural crash protection with a capable suite of modern driver assistance systems.
