TMJ 2026: State Partners Grab to Streamline Cross-Border Travel
![]()
The Johor state government is in discussion with ride-hailing superapp Grab to explore strategic collaborations aimed at strengthening the state’s tourism and transportation sectors ahead of Visit Johor Year 2026 (TMJ 2026).
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the meeting with Grab’s senior management focused on several key initiatives, including efforts to update the Cross-Border Travel Agreement between Malaysia and Singapore.

The proposed updates are expected to enhance travel fluidity and improve connectivity between Johor and the city-state.
The discussions also explored potential cross-border partnerships involving the transport ministries of both Malaysia and Singapore. Grab, alongside other public transport providers, is expected to play a role in facilitating more efficient and seamless travel for both tourists and daily commuters between the two countries.
“These talks are part of broader plans to elevate Johor’s profile as a leading tourism destination in the region,” said Onn Hafiz. “Collaborations like these are essential to ensuring that TMJ 2026 is inclusive, comprehensive, and impactful.”

Another proposal discussed was the development of an integrated digital and physical platform to showcase Johor’s top tourist attractions. This initiative aims to make travel information more accessible to both domestic and international visitors, enhancing the overall tourism experience across both online and offline channels.
According to Onn Hafiz, the initiative is also expected to generate new income opportunities for Johoreans, stimulate the local economy, and reinforce Johor’s image as a modern, open, and globally connected destination.
The state government’s engagement with private sector players like Grab reflects a proactive approach in building the infrastructure and ecosystem needed for the success of TMJ 2026.
