2025 Proton X50 Garners 5,000 Bookings, Test-Drives Open This Weekend

The face-lifted and enhanced 2025 Proton X50 is proving to be equally as popular as its pre-facelift predecessor, and that’s even though it has not launched officially yet.
Earlier today, the national automaker revealed it has received over 5,000 early bookings in just a span of 10 days for the upgraded and refreshed B-SUV offering, which is set to debut officially later this this month.
“The target is to have at least 5,000 units ready for registration by the end of Aug, which will help manage the time it takes for a customer to receive their vehicle after placing an order,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy CEO of Proton Edar.

Full pricing scheme is set to be revealed officially on July 24, says Proton Edar Deputy CEO Zhang Qiang.

As a refresher, the revised 2025 Proton X50 was first revealed earlier this month before bookings opened on July 6. Zhang Qiang adds that full pricing will be revealed officially on July 24.
Additionally, the first 10,000 customers booking and registering their vehicles will receive a RM1,000 cash rebate, a special edition Touch ‘n Go card, and access to an exclusive deal that will be revealed during the launch mentioned.
Notably, Proton confirmed that test-drives for the 2025 Proton X50 will open at 3S and 4S showrooms starting this weekend from July 19.

“To keep the momentum rolling in the final week prior to the launch, we will offer test-drives at our outlets beginning July 19 so that customers can get a live on-road experience from behind the wheel,” adds Qiang Jiang further.
Specifically, said test-drives for the 2025 Proton X50 will be held at 3S and 4S showrooms. Here, customers will be able to see and sample the revamped B-SUV first-hand.

New under the hood is a 1.5-litre i-GT 4-cyl turbo petrol heart, which is paired with a 7-speed DCT box featuring a new column-mounted shifter.

As a refresher, the 2025 Proton X50 range has been streamlined with just three variants now – base ‘Executive’, mid-spec ‘Premium’, and range-topping ‘Flagship’ guises. All now share the same new 1.5-litre i-GT 4-cyl turbo petrol heart paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic box.
The former is a brand new powerplant replacing the outgoing pre-facelift model’s 1.5-litre 3-cyl MPI and TGDi units. Critically, besides peppier outputs of 181 PS and 290 NM, this new mill also brings enhanced refinement and a 4.7% improvement in efficiency.

Besides a sharp new exterior, the interior of the 2025 Proton X50 has been revamped too, and it includes a host of new additions plus improved tech.

Other notable changes in the 2025 Proton X50 include a sharper new exterior, a sleek and more upmarket cabin design, a host of enhanced tech that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, not forgetting an arsenal of enhanced ADAS features to boot.
